Foreign holidays
Tempted to try and go to Greece for a week in August, though not sure there are the bargains I thought! Got 2 kids - 7 and 5 not sure if the social distancing will ruin it a bit for them. Any of you off on a foreign jolly?

My annual trip to Aus is in serious doubt right now. Fucked if I'm paying for flights only to be quarantined at my expense for a fortnight in a hotel I won't be able to leave.

At present the convicts aren't letting any foreign nationals in at all (not even if they quarantine).

Very likely to be that way until next year.

Getting a few things done in the house... reckon half the street have had stuff done recently with the amount of skips you see everywhere... reckon a lot of people are spending on their gaff rather than going abroad...

Yup, Roby, exactly that, same happening here... and I suspect it's the standard rather than the exception. I've done Hall, Stairs Landing, replaced 60M of old fencing with concrete posts etc, put in 7 raised beds, built two pergolas, installed a brand new 16' x 10' garden shed / workshop, replaced all the discs / pads etc on Mrs CHL's car, and still spent several hours every weekday schooling our 7 year old..! I'm private means, wife is working happily from our study, daughter knows if she gets the schoolwork done her time's her own. All good.
TBH, we've been even better off (no commuting etc) and the weather has been kind - what's not to like?

The French were setting their Brexit stall out last year; making it difficult for Brits on the sites, reluctant to book us in ahead ready for 2020 as usual, reserving 'certain' accommodation for French / German bookings etc... Then when Brittany Ferries delayed the UK bookings window and the 'non refundable' deposit rocketed from £35 pp to £160 pp, we decided they knew something we didn't and gave it a steer for 2020. And then C19 reared its head anyway... But the VERY BEST BIT has been the French leisure industry now phoning / emailing around like crazy, trying to regenerate the UK custom - so every time Macron says they don't care and it's not affecting them, I have a little chuckle to myself...

We're away in the UK in August, that should definitely go ahead now. We tend to include at least one UK break annually anyway so it's not so different for us really. We will leave the foreign stuff alone until the dust settles.

Re: Foreign holidays
Buzzy I'm out in Spain at the moment and it's fine, most bars and restaurants are open but on restrictions, if you go to malls then you have to wear a mask and every shop has social distancing organised, although not always adhered too and they ensure you sanitize your hands before entering

The beaches are organised with life guards ensuring you social distance and not overcrowded as it seems many are staying away

The airports were pretty much closer with only Boots and WH Smith's open to get a drink and bite to eat, you had to wear your mask for the duration of the flight and they were serving cold snacks and

Staying in apartment so can't comment on hotels but the Spanish are very organised

Re: Foreign holidays
Just got a refund yesterday for 10 nights in Tenerife we had booked for the end of March.

Not booking anywhere else for this summer, might go to Italy for 3-4 nights later this autumn if it looks safe but I don’t think it will be.

The wife seems to need a break away more than me, I’m happy enough just to work from home and chill out in the evening.

Getting a few things done in the house and getting a new kitchen put in, reckon half the street have had stuff done recently with the amount of skips you see everywhere.

B&Q has been packed out, reckon a lot of people are spending on their gaff rather than going abroad.

Gonna drive up to the Scottish Borders, hoping Nicola S will let us in. Saw pics of a little bunch of Scots Nats making a fuss at the border with their flags and wet weather gear from McMillets.

Yep, same here.
Already been refunded a week away in away in May, just waiting for the 2021 flights to become available to move this Augusts holiday to next year.
Pointless going away if it's like being at home with the benefit of warmer weather but fuck-all to do.
Looks like I'll be replacing the kitchen this year.

"Insurance is only to cover the unknown/unanticipated."

That's someone buying into insurance company bullshit

So you can't get insurance against an unexpected illness because it's known about? Right oh then. No point signing up to BUPA then as they'll never pay out for cancer, broken limbs or heart disease on that basis...

But of course they do...

Insurance is only to cover the unknown/unanticipated.

You can get travel insurance with cover for pre existing health conditions, that are known.

Re: Foreign holidays
Would love to get abroad for a few days at least but I don't really want to go away just to find myself somewhere with similar restrictions to UK. I want to be able to have comfortable meals in good restaurants, see some sites etc not queue everywhere and find everything worthwhile closed down. So unless there is somewhere with very limited restrictions or things change quickly I don't know if I'll bother.
Also put off by the idea of wearing a mask for several hours in airport / plane.

No
Might go to Cornwall for a weekend at the beginning of October for my birthday but that's it. The sea is still warmish so a bit of bodyboarding and a tramp around Bodmin Moor would be therapeutic.

Whilst wishing all Whoers with booked holidays a grief free trip, I do hope those in the process of booking consider the carrier and destination before doing so

The Balearic Islands were, pre covid, marching and playing up about British tourists, even imposed a tourist tax. The Celts, as usual, played the cunt, Scotland, Wales and particularly those Cornish peasants floated to the top

TUI, Virgin, BA, shitcunt Ryan Air and Easy Jet all reneged legal obligation

When booking Whoers bear that in mind
