More worryingly, the political fall out from this selfish incompetence is likely to drive the Lebanon into another decade or so if civil war sponsored, as usual in these parts, by wealthy outside parties.
It needs to modernise it's government/administrative practices, but that involves the ceding of historical power bases by certain factions who have never brought anything of national worth to the table.
Israel can fend off such interference due to the funding it receives - the Lebanon has no backers of an equivalent status.

A8's just upset because he thinks it's our job to blow up the Middle East.

Bollocks. It was the subject of court hearings since the ship was impounded. I didnlt think you would be a conspiracy theory type.

Their whole system pays people off, it's not confined to Hezbollah.
The Government is a coalition as I'm sure you know...you think that all that was stored there for 6 years, it was brought to the authorities attention a number of times, but only Hezbollah knew about it whilst the rest of the government was completely in the dark?
Well you can run with that if you want...

Thanks for changing the thread title. Really sad, residents rightly asking questions.

Explosion was 4.5 on Richter scale. Felt in Cyprus.

After 8, yes I know they are, but as are other parties, the power is shared on a religious basis.
It's not like the port authorities could have raised the problem, (as they did a number of times) and then Hezbollah could keep it quiet from the rest of those they form the government with.

Their Government was alerted to the problem on 3 or 4 occasions over a period of years, their government is not Hezbollah.

I read in the Jurusalem post about Mossad tipping off MI5 and the Germans who found huge amounts of the same ammonia concealed and stored in London and Germany by Hezbollah.

Nope - not really read anything like that. It's simply that I don't need pictures to understand what's happening in the world.
No need to see bits of kids splattered all over a wall to get that something unpleasant has happened from the words used.

Have you read the Psychopath Test? Your reaction to such things says a lot. I took that post as thing I wish to avoid seeing if possible.

What ever it was, from the videos it was pretty clear an explosion like that shouldn’t be taken lightly. Very sad.

The initial thoughts were that the fire that then set off the explosion was triggered by fireworks...I believe. This was before the true scale of the blast and it's effects became known.
I believe the WTC thread was titled "Fuck me! Turn on the tele" or something similar, and that stayed throughout.

Beats me why anybody needs to see the graphic details of someone else suffering - are these people so devoid of an imagination that words are not enough?
