Not too many I can think of, we generally buy players from others who turn out to be crap.

Only sold him for a Tribunal Fee and he wasn't rubbish when he went to Spurs but I always thought Paul Allen never quite hit the potential he had when he was at West Ham.

This is dimly remembered (although I've checked some facts).

David Cross went to Man City, and, although he scored a goal every 2.6 games for them (as compared every 2.3 for us), they got rid of him surprisingly sharpish, and he wasn't nearly as good thereafter.

Was there a non football reason for them moving him on?

Buying John Hartson for £7m odd was probably the factor that destroyed Wimbledon as a football club when he turned to shit and they were relegated

When we sold Anton to Sunderland for £8m we also sold them George McCartney for £6m.
We had bought him off them for £600k plus gave them Clive Clarke who had a heart attack.
George turned crap and we had him back again (via Leeds?) for free and he did ok for us again
