Do you think Moyes could be sacked if we continue losing?
Ok, so it's only been one game, but we got off to the worst possible start and now have a tough run of games.

He only has around 9 months left on his contract, and isn't on a huge basic salary, so his pay off shouldn't really be an issue. Eddie Howe is available.

So could he go, or after last time will they stand by him no matter what?

He is on a mission to keep us from now until the of the season. It is perfectly clear that the board have no idea how to run a football club. What was the point of getting MP in and spending the most money in the history of the club and now where we are back where we started?

However unpopular he is we should have stuck Moyes we need some stability he wouldn't have squandered money on a flamboyant Brazilian we would have some decent left and right backs. His buys last season as an example of the team we could have had

Re: Do you think Moyes could be sacked if we continue losing?
Capitol Man - that would be an achievement. He will almost definitely need 3 better players in the first team though at left back, CB and central midfield ( Noble replacement ) just to avoid relegation.

The post lock down end to last season was like tournament football and different to the normal cycle of games. It suited us for some reason. We avoided losing our better players and for once our fitness held better than many teams. We also had a real incentive and a "time boxed" set of games.

This season with most teams strengthening and us as we were, and the usual cycle of games its a different thing. Our first 6 or 7 games are horrendous too and I see us bottom with no points at the start of December

Re: Do you think Moyes could be sacked if we continue losing?
Moyes probably has lower-mid table in him. Not sure I see us getting much better than that though.

Re: Do you think Moyes could be sacked if we continue losing?
Of course he will be sacked as soon as the owners think they could be getting even more flack for engineering another relegation.
Not sure if and why people think Howe will be the answer though. He may well be longer term and if given time to build something but he is largely a one club manager ( in terms of success at BMouth if keeping them up with limited resources counts as success) but he will face the same problem a squad with bleedin great holes in it and an overabundance of mediocre players for the other positions.

Could he get Anderson, Cresswell, Arfur, Balbuena, Diop, Fredericks and Haller to perform much better or devise a system and tactics to get them and the team as a whole to be more effective? Who knows? Has he a track record of doing that? Dont thinks so. Ancellotti did at Everton without purchasing anyone and sometimes just the "new manager,, new start" thing kicks in and demotivated, disillusioned players are reborn? I suppose he is younger and does not look like a ghost or give dour interviews. That seems to matter a lot more nowadays too :-)

That last comment was meant to go in the thread about wasted talent!

Re: Do you think Moyes could be sacked if we continue losing?
It's not simply a case of good manager gets the best out of players, bad managers don't. Individual managers know how to get the best out of certain players. Managers considered to be 'better' tend to be able to get the best out of a larger number of players.

Moyes does struggle to get the best out of Anderson, Haller, Lanzini, etc. But previously he got the best out of Arnautovic, during the re-start period he had Antonio playing out of his skin.

If he can get eleven players out on the pitch playing at top level I don't care what their names are or how much they cost the club.

As others have said, if in bottom 3 come Xmas then out. By that time though another club will have probably employed Howe.

Re: Do you think Moyes could be sacked if we continue losing?
Russ is correct...

The geriatrics only care about staying up....selling for top money...

They were gifted a Gold Mine by London Olympic Stadium lease...

A financial loss to the country...massive win for GSB...

Big initial cash from sale of Upton PaRk...
Cheap long term lease of. OS
Ongoing interest payments to GSB at high rates

Just kep it going a few more years and get massive sale price for a poor team...cheap stadium ...and not much else...

Massive con job by the trio...GSB...

But who of any quality would come... ???

He knows what the owners are like. They're the same owners who got rid and then deliberately humiliated him to the world's media after they signed Pelle. And he's the same no pride cunt who jumped like an abandoned dog once summoned again, gushing with nauseating praise for the parasites.

I've got no sympathy for him.

Yep by definition we are stuck with him. A decent manager would want some money, the control of recruitment in terms of identifying targets etc. good training facilities and no interference from no nothing owners !

Re: Do you think Moyes could be sacked if we continue losing?
I'm no fan of Moyes style of football, but I put Saturdays performance on the shoulders of the owners as much as him.

Undermined him massively with the sale of grady and that in turn fucked off most of the team who looked to still be stewing over it when playing, though that doesn't excuse the fucking awful performance, as they should be more professional.

Just be pointless sacking him when no decent manager would ever work with them, so would just be replaced by an even bigger useless cunt.

Don’t really agree with that. Moyes said he knew there wouldn’t be much to spend when he took over.

He took the job saying this squad was better than the last one he had, and has continually talked himself up as a winning manager.

He is lucky to have a club as big as us offer him another chance, and he was as desperate and cheap as G&S.

He gets no sympathy from me.

Re: Do you think Moyes could be sacked if we continue losing?
As mentioned , if we could see improvement in some of the players even if we lose games it would perhaps suggest he has something to offer. I am thinking Diop or Anderson or Arfur etc. To be fair in his first stint he did get a bit of a "tune" out of Arfur but it seems that was probably more luck than judgement?

Arnautovic moving to the central role too was something he oversaw. But was it a conscious , deliberate change or one forced on him by injuries etc.? Same with Antonio at the back end of last season? He did eventually promote Rice I suppose or am I being too kind?

The post lockdown run in did look like he was getting the team to perform better just by simply organising them. But the Diangana sale just seems to have drained all hope and energy in the squad. He has to be able to get them motivated again or will rightly be binned.

Problem is the next 6 fixtures are horrendous even if we were flying. He needs to get some better players in that first team at left back, centre back, centre mid ( Noble replacement) and wide left and up front IMO. At a minimum left back, CB and legs in midfield to build on the Rice, Soucek axis. He would be better to take a chance on some of the younger lads in the U23s. They will bring that hunger and desire, they are used to winning ( yeah I know they lost to Chelsea the U23 champs last season but more than matched them). The younger players may not have the consistency and may not be able to keep it up ( ooh err ) all season but their enthusiasm and the fact they are not affected by the negativity surrounding the first team could be a catalyst for the whole set up. It might not be enough but from the little I have seen of Alese, Longelo and Johnson ( last few games of last season not that Bournemouth game ) they look as good if not better than Cresswell, Diop, Noble etc.

Anyway, lets hope we see a few of them tonight.

Re: Do you think Moyes could be sacked if we continue losing?
I think there's no way he'd get sacked as there is no manager who'd want to work in a club that has David Sullivan acting as a DoF and Will Salthouse as a chief scout

Russ good post
They really have painted their selves into a corner this time. Definitely a no win situation unless they splash the cash, having sold Diagana and 4 other players.

It honestly wouldn’t surprise me if the sacked him and then re hired him again down the line. Also I think he would take it a third time.

Re: Do you think Moyes could be sacked if we continue losing?
The problem is now the board have acted like such cunts and are so incompetent that Moyes has basically got a free pass.

If they sack him then they get the blame for hiring him and not backing him. If they don't then they get slated for hiring him and not backing him.

Either way. They are to blame and will get blamed. While good old Moysie either gets sacked and says hello to a mega pay off and tells the world what cunts they are. Or he keeps his job and the big salary keeps coming in and he doesn't say anything about them as he likes his salary.

It's a complete A-Z of how not to run a football club.

I’m not massively against Moyes, however I guarantee that if we swapped him for biesla for a couple of months you would see us perform much better and Leeds start performing worse

If Moyes goes, I'd say there is only one man they will get in to replace him. Tony Pullis.

Peckham

"What difference can they make in the last 10 minutes playing time or even 20 minutes when the whole 11 are out of shape and losing.
"

if that was the case no one would make any subs would they?

I've seen players like Arnie, Antonio etc.. come on and change the game. Thats what big money / big game players are meant to do. Wilshire did it for Arsenal when he was there.

The reason Haller, Anderson and Wilshire are on big money is they have shown in the past they are that level of player. So fuck blaming coaches. You get on that pitch and you fight and put yourself about.

Its amazing what we put up with nowadays as fans. Its like the Ozil thing at Arsenal. Living off past glory but every time your on the pitch you give fuck all and then blame the manager. The reality is you dont care and your doing just enough to get by and pick up a salary.

Also. dont forget its not like these guys are killing it in training and Moyes cant wait to start them. They CANT be doing it in training at all, because he hasnt started them in about 4 months! If he could sell everyone of them now I'm 100% sure he would. There just a waste of space right now.

I'm hoping they improve but I'm not seeing it.
