Des and your favourite serial killers
Watched the ITV drama Des over the weekend (about the serial killer Dennis Nilsen, not the serial ear abuser Des O’Connor) and it reminded me of the age old ‘Favourite serial killer’ thread on here from about 15 years ago, as the books ‘Killing for company’ was mentioned in it a few times (the tv drama is a sort of dramatisation of the book, the writing of and researching the book and the murder investigation) Happy days!

The programme was pretty good, though I sometimes struggle with David Tennant and every character her her plays seems to be a variation of the same theme, but some of the things Des comes out with in it are unbelievable and I thought the acting overall was very good.

Might finally get round to reading the book now.

Looking forward to the devil in the white city as well - Scorsese and di caprio doing the story of Henry holmes and his murder mansion. It was going to be a film but now is a tv series

Favourite serial killer? I suppose our own Harold Shipman as he put his victims to sleep and they experienced no pain or suffering. They didn't even realise they were being murdered. It beats dying slowly of cancer any day of the wee

Fred and Rose were probably the most disgusting not only serial killers by incestuous paedophiles too. Recently read Fred and Rose by Howard Sounes. Two of the most revolting people I have ever hearsd of.

If you haven't seen it there is an old TV movie wo parter called "To Catch a Killer" with Brian Dennehy as John Wayne Gacy. Without a doubt if it had been a Hollywood film he would have got an Oscar. Very chilling and worth a watch if you can find it.

Dahmer.

Also, to be fair Shipman holds a place in my heart just for the sheer numbers and the chilling and clinical way he went about it. Also it's not in that many fields a Brit is a world beater.

Yeah he’s superb in it - nails the accent as well, having lived in and around Bristol and south glos for 20 years I’m amazed at how hard people find the accent to do on tv, it normally ends up like some kind of vicar of Dibley comedy farmer voice, but he gets everything down brilliantly

The woman who plays rose west in it is very very good too - instantly terrifying, shocking and horrible just in her indignation and reaction to what’s going on. She’s creepy as fuck.

John Wayne Gacy (March 17, 1942 – May 10, 1994) was an American serial killer and sex offender known as the Killer Clown who assaulted and murdered at least 33 young men and boys. Gacy regularly performed at children's hospitals and charitable events as "Pogo the Clown" or "Patches the Clown", personas he had devised. He was also active in his local community as a Democratic Party precinct captain and building contractor.

Re: Des and your favourite serial killers
Albert Fish takes some beating - a total nutjob.
He sent this letter to the mother of one of his victims:-

My dear Mrs Budd, In 1894 a friend of mine shipped as a deck hand on the steamer Tacoma, Capt John Davis. They sailed from San Francisco to Hong Kong China. On arriving there he and two others went ashore and got drunk. When they returned the boat was gone. At that time there was a famine in China. Meat of any kind was from $1 to 3 Dollars a pound. So great was the suffering among the very poor that all children under 12 were sold to the Butchers to be cut up and sold for food in order to keep others from starving. A boy or girl under 14 was not safe in the street. You could go in any shop and ask for steak – chops – or stew meat. Part of the naked body of a boy or girl would be brought out and just what you wanted cut from it. A boy or girls behind which is the sweetest part of the body and sold as veal cutlet brought the highest price. John staid there so long he acquired a taste for human flesh. On his return to N.Y. he stole two boys one 7 one 11. Took them to his home stripped them naked tied them in a closet then burned everything they had on. Several times every day and night he spanked them – tortured them – to make their meat good and tender. First he killed the 11 yr old boy, because he had the fattest ass and of course the most meat on it. Every part of his body was cooked and eaten except Head – bones and guts. He was roasted in the oven, (all of his ass) boiled, broiled, fried, stewed. The little boy was next, went the same way. At that time I was living at 409 E 100 St, rear – right side. He told me so often how good human flesh was I made up my mind to taste it. On Sunday June the 3 – 1928 I called on you at 406 W 15 St. Brought you pot cheese – strawberries. We had lunch. Grace sat in my lap and kissed me. I made up my mind to eat her, on the pretense of taking her to a party. You said Yes she could go. I took her to an empty house in Westchester I had already picked out. When we got there, I told her to remain outside. She picked wild flowers. I went upstairs and stripped all my clothes off. I knew if I did not I would get her blood on them. When all was ready I went to the window and called her. Then I hid in a closet until she was in the room. When she saw me all naked she began to cry and tried to run down stairs. I grabbed her and she said she would tell her mama. First I stripped her naked. How she did kick – bite and scratch. I choked her to death then cut her in small pieces so I could take my meat to my rooms, cook and eat it. How sweet and tender her little ass was roasted in the oven. It took me 9 days to eat her entire body. I did not fuck her, though, I could of had I wished. She died a virgin.

One pair i can never fully get my head round are the dnepropetrovsk maniacs.

I mean none of the other serial killers are anything like "good people" but these 2 were so fucking evil its hard to comprehend.

No macabre interesting backstory, no pop-culture friendly cheek like Bundy or Zodiac, just 2 fucking horrible cunts.

Weirdly hardly anyone seems to have heard of them either
