Craig Dawson signed season - long loan - will sign permanently - contract until 2023

With Balbuena leaving in the summer he is an improvement on him.

Hopefully this Alvez lad has what it takes.

Still think we may need to sign another cb in the summer.

Until the squad gets an upgrade he is first choice without a doubt, people trying to say he isn't or shouldn't be are playing fantasy football as the fact is the other two options actually in our squad are behind him in all areas and our owners don't like spending big on centre backs generally and have sacked the managers who have.

Remember that Dawson was signed as a back up. He has stepped up to be regular this year and has performed adequately.

If we keep him all well and good.

Decent option to have as back up, and seems a fantastic pro who's liked by all.

His last few games should be a reminder why he shouldn't be seen as a FIRST NAME ON THE SHEET kind of player.

If it's for the £2m as reported, then it's an absolute no brainer.

All three goals against the goon were down to him the first he wasn’t tight enough lacazette was only eight yards out the second he smashed it in his own net and the third he lost lacazette again. I’m not sure how him scoring an own goal from a cross against Man Utd is not his fault

Ball retention has been a problem for fucking years

Dawson is ok as a fill-in or back up. He would not get into any other top ten side.

I'm perfectly happy for him to be a sub, and for Diop to be developed for another year, but we need another CB of Ogbonna's quality, I rate him as one of the best defenders n the league.

The issue for us in the last couple of games has been failing to retain the ball in midfield.

In fact ball retention has been a bit of a problem all season, particularly when we have the lead.

He’s not even been poor in the last couple of games.

His performances have just dropped a tad, which often happens in CBs when their partner is out of the team. In fact it can affect the whole of the defence.

Own goals aside, he has been great.
I cannot believe how good he has been, I really thought he was a waste of space has been that would hopefully be the backup never used.
It’s a no brainer to give him a contract.

OK signing for the money.. Been quite poor the last few games. Was excellent before that, somewhere in between would be satisfactory

Dawson is going off the boil a bit recently. He's been an excellent fill-in this season, but I don't think that he can last much longer alongside Diop. Once Ogbonna comes back, he may be the second CB because Diop is inconsistent.

Good signing but I do think he’s suffered a bit with Ogbonna being out.
