Antonio Vs Liverpool at Anfield - Should he play?
Word from the Physio Room os

"He's just feeling something a little bit in his hamstring. We think he feels it's just cramping so it's not serious, but we're not too sure."

On that basis and,, given is fragile hammies, should we rest him for a week or play him for an unlikely win?

Time for Moyes to sit down with Nolan and ask him how that tactical genius BFS played a fake Number 9, or whatever the fuck they called it!

Probably be Yarmolenko instead of Benrahma but I’d rather someone with a bit of pace who can run at ppl.

Play into his feet or chest, not his head.

Occupy the fullbacks & then use the space they leave in behind.

sounds crazy but i wouldnt play a centre forward tomorrow.

i'd stick Bowen & Benrahma as 'wide forwards', get them to occupy the fullbacks and the space either side of the centre halfs. when we look for an our you look wide or put it in the channels.

their centre back pairing will be pretty inexperienced so let them have the ball and let them try and work out what to do when we have the ball.

play Fornals of Lanzini as a number 10 - either their midfield drops back on him (and makes space for us) or the centre half has to come out and mark him (makes space to run in behind).

the way we play you may as well have a lampshade instead of Haller.

I’d go with that, from what I hear haller won’t start

Worked for a number of games with Sakho, Valencia and Downing. With Kouyate, Nobel and Song behind.

The problem I would see is that a lot what the forwards did was in the air once they got near the box. Benrahma is 5'7" ish, isn't he. Now Valencia wasn't that tall but had a basketballers vertical. Don't see that with Said.

Goose.

Doesn't sound crazy at all, we need industry and movement against them in those areas Haller doesn't give that.

not knocking him, just isn't his style.

If as reported he is out for a month then I wouldn't start him or even have him on the bench.

Antonio doesn't really play up on his own.. He's very seldom isolated.

Re: Antonio Vs Liverpool at Anfield - Should he play?
There's no point playing Haller up to on his own so if Antonio is out we need to change the system to give him someone to play off (Benrahma would be my choice) but I worry that we would the suffer defensively as Haller (and I would imagine Benrahma???) won't defend as well from the front.

If Antonio is deemed fit I'd give him the first half, hope we can grab an early goal.. will be a great shame if he misses out as I don't reckon their makeshift defence will be able to handle him.

If he's 100% fit, he should play.

If not, no.

Moyes needs to have a clue on others. Currently paying Yarmolenko an Haller near £1m a month for doing very little. Madness.

I think that report from the Athletic was on the back of their podcast on Monday where Roshane Thomas said he was expected to be fit (based on Moyes post-match press conference).

Wouldn't read too much into it, as even in the podcast he says he was expected to go for a scan on the Tuesday.

The system we’ve had has worked well against teams that have attacked us.

I didn’t see the first match, but am I right in saying Newcastle are the only team who have been a bit more cautious, or did thy come at us the same as all the others, leaving space in behind?

Haller may turn out to be a lot better against teams who park the bus, and might even be better than Antonio in those kind of games.

As it’s Liverpool next, I really hope Antonio’s fit, but against Fulham, I’d like Haller to start, letting Antonio come on for the last 25 minutes, when they’re tiring.

Maybe, or maybe when he comes on the players are tired after working their bollocks of and we're not as productive all over the pitch.

Hard to know for sure

We dont sit back when Antonio is on. Even when we are leading.
We sit back when he comes off.

For me its simple. I felt the same about Carol. Even though he was a good finisher and our best striker I'm always against changing a whole system to accommodate one player.

It always ends in failure. Look at Arsenal with Ozil. They tried to do the same and it just doesnt work in the long run. You get a few good wins maybe. But your team falls apart when that player isn't there or isn't performing.

What you want is a consistent style and structure come rain or shine. Especially if your a club trying to improve. Only really big clubs with various options on the bench can play multiple systems when they want. And even then that doesnt always work well.

Its just a bad road to go down.

I also think Moyes is done risking his job over these players. If your not doing what he needs done I dont see you starting no matter how much you cost.
