Anyone 'On a journey'
When did this bollox become a 'thing' I listen to a lot of podcasts and every fucker seems to be on or has been on a 'journey'.

I listen to people saying shit like, 'my journey as a parent has been so fulfilling'

Who is to blame for this nonsense?

Dietrich Bonhoeffer: "There is a meaning in every journey that is unknown to the traveller." Probbaly applies ot a lot of people.

Re: Anyone 'On a journey'
I dunno but I hear it a lot. I've written a lot about grief these past three years so I speak to a lot of people 'on a journey' and I always pull them up on it. Most 'journeys' are more like people who've caught their coat in a car door and been dragged screaming down the road. Whatever they are going through is awful and trying to make it sound like a holiday just denigrates whatever the problem is. Oh and ditto if you 'reach out' to me. The only person who should reach out is Levi Stubbs.

I have seen The Langoliers.

I don't remember the airport scene, but I do remember it was without doubt the shittest film I've ever seen. In fact I remember LOLing at the shitness of it.

Leonard have you seen the langoliers? If so does southend airport remind you at the moment of the airport in the langoliers?

"Suddenly there was a a thump-thump-thump and a bride came storming down the ramp..."

That is the finest prose ever to grace this forum.

I am in awe.

Re: Anyone 'On a journey'
I like Belfast Airport. It's dinky. While I was waiting for my nephew to pick me up, I was waiting inside the entrance at the bottom of that ramp walkway with the sliding doors. Every so often parties of chatty people would amble down the slope through the sliding doors and disappear into the car park. There were some taxi drivers inside the entrance, waiting for their customers. Suddenly there was a thump-thump-thump and a bride came storming down the ramp, full white meringue gown, tiara, swinging her bouquet upside down, trowelled-on bridal make-up, with a face like thunder. She stomped out the doors into the carpark, not saying a word. A few seconds later she was followed by a couple of stressed-looking young blokes in wedding suits. Then it all went quiet again. The taxi drivers and I exchanged glances and shrugged shoulders. Would have liked to know the story there.
