Claim ‘there have been contacts’ from West Ham United for signing – Club yet to receive ‘concrete’ offer

Barcelona’s Junior Firpo has been handed only two starts in all competitions this season as the left-back has struggled to get ahead of Jordi Alba in the pecking order.

The 24-year-old’s situation at the Camp Nou has attracted interest from elsewhere and that includes West Ham United.

Earlier this month, we relayed news from Spain that the Hammers have ‘long shown interest’ in the defender.

It was also stated David Moyes’ side have made a proposal to sign the former Real Betis man.

Today’s edition of Mundo Deportivo talks about the speculation linking West Ham and Inter Milan with the fullback.

It’s claimed the Catalan club admit they ‘handle the interest’ of several clubs in the Premier League and the Serie A, but they refuse to disclose the details of those claims.

West Ham get a mention. This is followed by a claim that ‘there have been contacts’, most likely with the London club and other suitors. However, there is ‘nothing concrete’.

Ronald Koeman’s side are ready to sanction the player’s sale in the mid-season window, but they ‘emphasise vehemently’ Junior Firpo will only leave Barcelona if the ‘proposal is high enough financially’.

Mundo doesn’t mention the figures needed to convince the La Liga giants, but make it clear Barca have so far not received concrete offers for Junior Firpo.

West Ham must change offer to land brilliant ex-PL man in January

By Harry Sherlock

Christian Eriksen needs a way out of Inter Milan.

The Denmark international’s struggles at the club have been well documented and it seems that the January transfer window could finally offer him an escape route.

Indeed, under Antonio Conte, he has made just four starts in Serie A and has failed to last the 90 minutes in any of them.

It seems that he will be heading out of the club in the coming weeks, then, and Corriere dello Sport, via Sport Witness, reports that West Ham United are potential suitors.

This would naturally be a surprise, purely because of the Dane’s history with Tottenham Hotspur.
Still, it seems a gap needs to be bridged if Eriksen is to end up in east London.

The Irons are said to have only made loan proposals for the playmaker thus far, with their enquiries firmly rebuffed.

If Eriksen is to end up at the London Stadium, then, it seems the Irons will need to part with some proper cash and make a formal transfer bid.

It remains to be seen if they are willing to do that in the January transfer window.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

Eriksen is an ambitious target for the Irons but what a signing he’d be.

The club need an injection of creativity at No.10, with both Pablo Fornals and Manuel Lanzini seeming to struggle this season.

The pair have provided just three assists between them in 23 games and a move for the Dane would mean they had plenty more avenues to create chances.

Even during his worse full season at Spurs in terms of chance production, he registered two assists, in 2014/15. He also scored 10 goals.

If they can make a deal work, West Ham would be pulling off a remarkable coup.

Corriere dello Sport

West Ham on Nzola

GENOA - La Spezia must lock up the surprise M’Bala Nzola (already seven goals this year) who arrived from Trapani on a free transfer last summer, signing a three-year contract. Polls from the Premier League would have arrived, in particular West Ham would have taken information on the boy: the eagles want to keep him and it is likely that in the coming weeks there will also be discussion of a well-deserved adjustment of the striker's salary.
