Definitely thought Uncle Tom's family looked sheepish when they were out clapping, they killed the hen that layed the golden eggs.
Come to think about it probably waiting for social services to knock on the door

Re: Captain Moore has passed
It is very sad about Capt Sir Tom. And the following is nothing to do with him.

A quick glance into the charity the JustGiving page is donating to, which equates in news language as "raised for the NHS" quickly shows that the NHS is not where this money is going - and not only that, there are lots of eyebrows that should be raised about where this £33m is going.
https://www.nhscharitiestogether.co.uk/

From the charity's website: "NHS Charities Together is the new trading name of The Association of NHS Charities, a membership organisation representing, supporting and championing NHS Charities." This implies that it is a long-standing charity that has decided to change its name recently.

But actually, the charity "The Association of NHS Charities", has only just been set up - on 15 May 2019 - and has never filed a single return and the trustees are mostly people sat on no other Charity's board.

Even if this were not eyebrow-raising in itself, the charity itself explains where the money is going: "TO PROMOTE THE EFFECTIVE WORKING OF NHS CHARITIES IN THE UK. WE DO THIS BY PROVIDING INFORMATION & TRAINING FOR THOSE INVOLVED IN CHARITY MANAGEMENT AND FUNDRAISING." Yes, they do use all caps!
https://register-of-charities.charitycommission.gov.uk/charity-search/-/charity-details/5149357/charity-overview

So this amazing sum of money, raised by Capt. Sir Tom "for the NHS", is not really going to the NHS?. It is going in training fees to unnamed people to do stuff that might be useful but is not, as is commonly understood, "going to the NHS". Certainly not frontline care.

Think yourself lucky, I took the knee, clapped for Sir Tom then clapped for the NHS AND updated Facebook to tell everyone all at the same time

Sad, but 100 years and what he did in the last one is something to be happy about.

This reminds me of that episode in the Simpsons where Homer and Ned go skiing.

Dial in group boot camp session at 1830 LT, work is all video calls so seems a waste to put on two outfits in a day when one will do and this is being typed to you on work time, which means...

..I am wearing lycra leggings as I think of you.

Re: Captain Moore has passed
Our footballers are taking the knee albeit briefly before kick off. The racism aimed in the UK at black players means the job of eradication is far from done.

Long may players demonstrate against racism.

Agreed commer but all this knee bollocks and had a negative affect IMO

R.I.P. Captain.

Suggestion 1 is SO British! Let's remember the heroics of someone else by having a fucking day off! Jesus wept.

It's only British if you get shit faced on cheap, watery lager at a BBQ or someone's sitting room. Or Both.

"Jeremy Vine on 5 talking about how we can remember the old fella... ideas so far

1, A Sir Tom Bank Holiday
2. A statue next to Nelson Column
3. Rename Wembley stadium the Sir Tom Stadium"

How about a Major Tom UK space rocket? Will take 100 years to get anywhere. Only KIDDING!

Suggestion 1 is SO British! Let's remember the heroics of someone else by having a fucking day off! Jesus wept.
