Next 7 Games are tough so let's not get ahead of ourselves
|
Spurs (h) Man City (a) Leeds (h) Man Utd (a) Arsenal (h) Wolves (a) Leicester (h)
We are riding high but have some tough games ahead, would like to think we do Spurs, Leeds and Wolves but how are we set for those teams around us...

Seeing as the EPL finishing place prize money is generous I cannot see any “safe” team allowing us to roll them over.
Years ago with one or two games to go safe teams would take the opportunity to blood a youngster or two. No longer though instead the blooding takes place in Cup games against inferior opposition. The league prize money motivates most teams to put out their strongest elevens to the end.

Going to be honest, I think we could get more points from the final 7 games. Cant see us dropping more than 5 points. Cant remember every feeling like this in my 35 years as a Hammer.

If you are playing sports, its one game at a time.
If you are talking about sports on a website, speculating is really the only game in town.
Two games from now, here's hoping Burnley are pretty much safe.
Even more likely is that Brighton will be after four games.
West Brom will likely be mathematically down on the penultimate gameday.
Southampton probably not looking down or up last day of the season.
Win those four games - which there is no excuse not to - and some kind of Europe will be nice.

Who would have envisaged this a year ago that with 7 games to go this season we would have been 4th a point above Chelsea. Lampard spent how much last summer 200M?

Agree - should start the "Team for Newcastle" thread now so all this beat X and Y nonsense and 3 points here and 1 point there bollocks can be forgotten.
Win one game at a time and aim to get at least a clean sheet up there and hope OGGY is back for Cresswell.

Game at a time, thats all Moyes and the lads are looking at, got a good chance of another 3 points v Newcastle to go third with 6 games left.

If we can get 13 points from those seven I’m going to be disappointed not to get 10+ with our final 7

MO - you are probably spot on. You wouldn't even get odds on that! They don't really do 'planning'.

Agree with that, but in parallel with that I would expect the board to be scouring the planet for the players Moyes needs.
Instead I expect they've just handed a shopping list to their agent mates and sat back with a fat smug look on their boats.

Spurs have Everton this week so that should ensure we're out of reach for one of them. Hopefully Everton drop points tonight then get something against Spurs.

Much depends on the Chelsea and Everton games as they are both hot on our tails. If we apply ourselves properly in all of the remainder we may even get up to third and match the boy's of 86. As said before Moyes takes every game as it comes and its worked well this season. Moysinio manager of the year if we make it?

I hate to sound like a killjoy, but we should just ignore the “if we beat X and then draw with Y, take a point away at Z...” shite.
We’ve got where we are this season by being really well prepared for each game - one game at a time. It’s what Moyes has always gone and been good at: focusing on the next game and nothing more.
It does detract a bit from any longer-term planning (as you can see from the still-unbalanced squad). But Moyes does this more than most managers. And, at the moment, it’s working for us.
With that in mind, I couldn’t (yet) give a shit about Chelsea or West Brom etc. Just focus on doing a job on Newcastle.

yeh i think Fulham have blown their chance last few games, i think WBA will give it a go but they would need about 17 points from their last 8 games.
we've got a 1 point head start in a 7 game race with Chelsea & Liverpool.
another 13 points might be enough if we can beat chelsea or at least avoid defeat.

Works in our favour playing teams who are fighting for something though. Means they have to attack us and we've been wonderful to watch on the counter attack this season.

IWith our injury list will be a tough ask. But if we beat Newcastle and not lose against Chelsea, and then get some players back, then we will have a great opportunity of making top 4.
Chelsea have to play Man City and Arsenal. Everton have Spurs and Arsenal. Liverpool have to play Leeds & Man United.
