Poisonous Animals

No, not wives, girlfriends or for the benders same sex partners.....
Anyone had any bad dealings with any? I was watching a docu last night about a blue ringed octopus and woke up at 3am after dreaming one was chasing me around a lagoon!
There really are some proper nasty cunt animals/insects about aint there?
I have been stung by a jellyfish in MAGALUF years ago, lifeguard told me to piss on my leg - had 2 scar/stripes down the leg for many days - pain was bad but not excrutiating.
Anyone ever been done by anything really nasty such as a venomous spider or snake?

We don't have any snakes here because when Maui and his brothers went out fishing in their waka (canoe), which now forms the South Island, and Maui used a fishhook made from his grandmother's jawbone and hauled up a huge fish which became the North Island, he tipped all the snakes and spiders and all that other deadly shit off into the sea and pushed them over to Australia.
Even back then, he knew the Aussies were dicks.

Can't find out WHY New Zealand has no snakes (excluding sea-snakes and imports from Australia in the last 200 years). Snakes evolved ~500 million years ago, when all the land mass of the world, excluding a few tiny islands, was connected in a supercontinent, and they got almost everywhere.
So what happened to the NZ ones?
The other places without snakes were those tiny islands, or places that were later formed by volcanoes, or had their snakes scraped off by glaciation (Ireland, Iceland, Greenland, etc.).
But NZ only had quite small glaciers during the last few "ice ages", and only on the South Island.

Not too sure why they call Australia "The Big Island of Death", i am sure that the African mosquitos are a lot more deadly, always seeing adverts about it on TV

Few weeks back I spotted an Eastern Brown Snake in my Garden. 2nd most poisonous in the world apparently. I miss squirrels

When I was touring India I was bitten by a King Cobra. After several days of agonising swelling and pain it finally died.

I used to visit my mother when she lived up there. At Port Douglas there was an amazing beach with no on on it.

A mate of mine lives in Palm Cove. So I spent some time up that way. Cairns, Port Douglas and further north to Daintree and a few other places.

I often saw Portuguese man o war there. They call them bluebottles.
The box jellies that live in the tropics are seasonal. As I understand it, they spawn in the estuaries, then wash out to sea when it rains. They are more developed than other jellyfish in that they have eyes and actively hunt fish. They also keep to the shallows, which brings them into contact with beach goers, but means it's safe to dive out on the reef. Except for the sharks of course. Sometimes people swim into the tentacles which wrap around and cling, causing severe injuries and pain.

I wouldn't go in the water up in the tropics, especially in wet season.
In Cairns they have public swimming lagoons which are popular.
The only wild snakes I ever saw were up there, but both harmless. But taipans are common and occasionally kill people.
A couple of years ago, some guy found a taipan in his house and tried to grab it with kitchen tongs. Died in hospital a couple of days later.
