Talk to me about Edde Vedder
|
Watching this film on Netflix called ‘Into the Wild’, with Eddie Vedder singing Hard Sun.
Loved his voice, although was never that into Pearl Jam as a kid.
Has an amazing backstory with his parents.
I’m intrigued. Help me fill in a part of my youth that I missed out on...
Has anyone seen him live? What are his best songs? How highly do we rate him?

Great voice but I think the band is overrated and other grunge bands at the time Nirvana and Alice in Chains were better. However a couple of excellent tracks up there with the best in Alive and Even Flow

Have to admit 10 is a perfect album... not a bad track and one of those pieces of work you can not play for a year but when you do it's as fresh as when you first heard it... all made in about 2 weeks so I heard??

Story behind Jeremy... still one of the most shocking music Video's... although Rooster (Alice in C's) ain't far off

I saw Pearl Jam at the Irvine meadows Ampitheatre.
I thought they were good. Black is a great song.
He plays the Ohana music festival at Doheny state beach in Dana point each year. This year he is billed with the Foo fighters in Sept.

Due to office being shut (i've worked from home since Dec) I've wrangled a Vol' Red' in which my dosh goes straight into my pension with Gov' top up to allow me to take it now without pens... I was going at 60 no matter what it's just brought it all forward by 5 years... . been doing 9-10 hour days without a break ontop of call outs during the night since Christmas... had to sell my 5 weeks leave back to dept' as I was not allowed to go earlier... the place is a fucking SHIT show...I could not have got out at a better time with my sanity relatively unscathed.. got a few mates still there (out with them all yesterday) who I am really concerned for... I am deffo one of the lucky ones... couple of months off and already got a few cash in hand small jobs (Gardening/Book keeping)... I need to find around £500 a month to be basically where I am now... or I could just do fuck all and have a decent laze about till my end of days...

About 5-6 of their songs are fantastic. The rest I found to be turgid and a bit tame. Ten exemplifies this - Black is a great song, but tracks like Even fucking Flow are a bit dad rock.

I like Vedders voice but have always thought musically PJ lacked grit, a bit like an angst bon jovi, still Ten is a bit of a classic.

Sold look at the Alice in Chains unplugged too - immense.
Watch the Pearl Jam movie by Cameron Crowe for more insight. Great band.

Fair play, Sold. Even though I've never done it myself I've always thought stability in the work related arena is a good thing, if you are content enough where you are. It can be a JUNGLE out there if you start moving around, the grass isn't always greener and many regret doing it. I have an old MATE who just recently left his firm after being there since he was 17. Must feel weird.

Got a very distinctive voice. Bit marmite for my liking.
Really like the song 'Jeremy'.
Oh not to be confused by Eddi" Reader.
Scottish bird what sings with Fairground Attraction.
She has avery good voice.

Later albums have some crackers too, 3 of my favourite PJ tracks are on the last 3 albums
Dance of clairvoyants - gigatron
Sirens - lightening bolt
Just breath - backspacer
All quality and all showing evolution over time. The older I get the more I get into them.

I see many people saying their first three albums are the best. While I don’t disagree (Vitalogy being one of my all time favourites), I would also ass 2006’s self-titled/Avocado album in there.
Somehow, despite being as political as they’ve ever been (it was at the height of the GWB administration and very anti-war), it’s an absolute belter. And the track Come Back always makes me think of my departed brother.
Give it a listen

Interesting voice and lyrics. Otherwise, Pearl Jam were Bon jovi with angst, never really interested me.
