The biggest mistake GSB made
Who would have thought a year ago that there would be a handful of games to go and we're challenging for a Champions League spot? Personally, I thought there was less chance than Swiss nailing Jennifer Anniston on his onyx decorated coffee table.

Letting Moyes go and bringing in you know who. Take a moment and give this some thought. If Moyes had continued his tenure, how would he have spent the budget handed to the pensioner? A lot more wisely is my guess. And we would have definitely qualified for the CL this season.

I think the biggest mistake GSB made was not leaking the sex tape of Karren pegging the pensioners with their own product.

I never wanted Benrahma to be signed as I always thought he was a championship level player..

That's fair enough fella, we're all entitled to an opinion. But fucking hell it's seemingly become more than an opinion now and more an obsession.
Let it lie.

You’re a fucking genius COYI....

I suppose you wanted Moyes all along as well.

Benrahma hasn’t scored but he has been a good addition and will go from strength to strength.

Re: The biggest mistake GSB made
I never wanted Benrahma to be signed as I always thought he was a championship level player who would struggle to cut it in the Premier League (a season with ZERO GOALS to his name validates that).

I also wanted us to sign Lingard and said on the thread on here before he signed that he would be a great signing and was an improvement to our squad.

But what do I know eh!

Hindsight indeed.

"And then Roberto happened"

Has been suggested that if Pellegrini and Husillos had their way, Roberto would have been signed instead of Fabianski in his first season to be number one. I suspect he would have been sacked within a few months of getting the job had that happened.

I wasn't very positive about Moyes either time he was appointed.

But I was positive more than negative.

He's exceeded my hopes, let alone my expectations.

Whoever Moyes decides to sign he has my respect and trust.

The vast majority of fans didn’t want Moyes the first time round.

The vast majority of fans were very happy with Pellegrini’s appointment.

The majority of fans weren’t very excited about the second coming of Moyes.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing....

Re: The biggest mistake GSB made
i think it was the combination of one of Antonio's hamstring injuries, the Injury to Fab and Roberto stinking it out - anyway recall we were a win from going 4th and we manage to lose to Crystal Palace at Home. That if i remeber is the point the rot set in and we went on a bad run and Pelle couldnt pull us out.

Pellegrini was a strange one. I can't be bothered to go back and check, but I suspect six matches into his second season the majority of fans were behind him and feeling positive; we'd finished tenth in his first season which was five points off Europe and had made a good start to his second season. Anderson had had a promising debut season and Haller had got a few early goals to his name.

And then Roberto happened.

I often wonder if Fabianski hadn't got injured or we'd had a reasonable back up keeper if he would still be here now.

Curbishley got very lucky, the so called “Great Escape” was fun to watch but would be more accurately titled the fuckin lucky escape and he was absolutely dismal until the last few games, and I mean DISMAL. Ironically enough as I recall our upturn in fortunes also coinciding with Noble getting into the side but everyone forgets that. Alamo performances at Highbury and flexible goal lines at Blackburn played more than their part. Annoys me the Curbishly get way too much credit for that season and he should never be remembered as anything but a lucky boring twat who very nearly relegated us and then had the temerity to sue us.

Re: The biggest mistake GSB made
It was good to finally hire someone who'd actually won something, but there was a lot of concern that he was way past his prime and was only in it to boost his retirement pot.

Re: The biggest mistake GSB made
Moyes would never have been given the budget Pellegrini was.

While the fans wanted a more exciting manager, I am not sure that was a bloke in his mid 60's who was semi retired in China.

Pellegrini never felt like a good fit for us. Largely signed a lot of overpriced shit, some of which were still saddled with.

Re: The biggest mistake GSB made
The biggest mistake they made was listening to the fans and giving them what they wanted, a shiny new director of football, a manager with a proven track record of winning things backed with a decent budget.
Judging by the radio interview given by Sullivan

I rated Curbs too, especially given how restricted he was thanks to that tit Duxbury.

"Moyes was taking us into oblivion when he got let go."

That's complete and utter nonsense. Moyes or Curbs struggled when they were trying to turn a shocking season around, with a demoralised, out of form squad.

It was no surprise that both of them had much better full seasons with a proper preseason to drill the squad to play the way they wanted to.

Re: The biggest mistake GSB made
What's interesting about Pellegrini is how many players he signed at Man City and whilst a handful have been successful such as Fernandinho, De Bruyne and Sterling quite a few either weren't there long, had a brief period of success then fell away (Negredo) or were total disasters. The spine of the side he had - Zabaletta and Kompany were signed by Mark Hughes and Yaya Toure, David Silva and Aguero were all Mancini signings. For sure Hughes and Mancini signed their own share of failures but you could argue Pellegrini's success at Man City was built on the foundations of other managers signings.
