For me Cavani's should have won it.
Great vision and technique.

Nagel: I don't know for sure, but having played a lot of tennis, I often come across left-handers who have a problem to place the service toss (using their right hand) in exactly the correct spot. Right-handed players rarely have such a problem with their (left handed) throw-up. There are other differences - lefties are particularly adept at spin. Rafa Nadal is a prime example of both characteristics - he has played whole matches where his service toss doesn't work, but once the ball is in play his topspin is a real weapon. So I am assuming that there is something neurological about it.

Chigwell, why would it be more difficult for left footers to play on their other foot than right footers to do the same? Is there something scientific about this or are you taking a handful of players who are very one footed and basing it on that?

Re: Goal of the season MOTD
My one and only rabona was with my weaker foot, when the ball landed to the right of my right foot, and I was standing on it anyway.

Nothing come of it, but at least I didnt fall over.

I'm very proud of not falling over.

Re: Goal of the season MOTD
For me it was between Cavani, Maddison and Haller (probably in that order) if you take the context of the goal out of the equation. Add the context and of course it's Lanzini.

Rabona goal = Rewarding a professional player for being unable to kick with his right foot

Spot on Sven: TV commentators ooh and aah about using the outside of the boot, Rabonas and the like, when often the only reason why players do that is that they are completely useless with their other foot. It's a particular bugbear of mine that professionals do not learn to use both feet with (more or less) the same level of skill and efficiency. It's what made Hurst, Brooking and Lampard Jnr so effective - not to mention Kane. They all say it didn't come naturally but they spent hours practising on their weaker side. I appreciate that many left footed players like Messi, Lamela, Bowen, Cresswell and Bale find it particularly difficult to do this - but there should be no excuse for right-footers.

The Yiddo run BBC were only ever going to have one winner, sadly

Don't care what others think. Goal of the season for me was Lanzini. Never had any other season when my favourite result was a draw until this one. If that hadn't gone in we would not have finished above them. Hallers overhead kick was special too as was everything about Jessie Lingard. Great time to be a Hammer and will smile all summer. Lamela deserves an award though. Biggest c*nt in football? Job done. Grealish pushed him all the way though.

If Lanzini doesn't win it then the game has gone.

Both good goals, not worthy of top three though.

Re: Goal of the season MOTD
Salah dink over Fabianski from 5 yards out and the offside goal Cavani scored last week made the top 3 with Lamela.

Manuel - oh and thinking about it I was replying to someone who mentioned about Moyes having to solve the problem of him getting injured.

So what the fuck are you rattling on about.

Re: Goal of the season MOTD
I wasn't digging at Masuako, you missed my point.
Which was we started playing four at the back which we wouldn't have done had he not got injured.

I didn't watch Motd which goals made the top three, obviously Lamela's

Manuel - morning/afternoon I knew you'd reply to my comment

;-)

I disagree, I'm not going to argue with you, the timing and the height at which he made contact was great technique in my opinion.

Though Lanzini's goal was a Lloris error.. According to Roy Keane

Re: Goal of the season MOTD
IMO Lanzinis should have won for 2 reasons.

1) The technique and accuracy was textbook.

2) It changed the fortunes of both sides playing in the match.

I like that Martin Peter's one years ago v Leicester got goal of season on ITV with Brian Moore on a Sunday .afternoon. Run the length of the pitch after kicking it out and volleyed it in ..

Re: Goal of the season MOTD
fraser - Nonsense. Lanzini's goal was more technical than your mate Haller's. He was further out, cut across the ball and postage stamped it. Overhead kick's are not that technical, yes it was a good goal of course but he was near to the goal, go over a training ground and you will see players scoring overhead kicks quite often.

It's strange how you have these odd obsessions with certain players, good and bad, and simply refuse to change your stance no matter what. I noticed you even managed to get a sly dig in at Arthur yesterday even though he hasn't even been mentioned on here for weeks. Weird.

Fans nearly always vote for their own teams, which is why Liverpool of Man Yoo players usually win.

Our vote was split which didn’t help.

fraser 9:10 Mon May 24
Re: Goal of the season MOTD
Lanzini's goal was iconic, meant so much and definitely the moment of our season for me.

But isn't goal of the season about technique. For that I prefer Haller's

Though it's voted on by the viewers , so what does it matter.

Rabona goal = Rewarding a professional player for being unable to kick with his right foot

The Lanzini goal was head & shoulders the best given the technique and its role in the game.
Still, maybe Harold Kane will reconsider given Spurs have a TROPHY

Re: Goal of the season MOTD
For me, not just the quality of the goal but the manner of the comeback and the time left on the clock.

Lanzini against Spurs, if there is such a thing maybe the greatest West Ham goal EVER in my humble.
