Club statement
Manchester City can confirm that following his being charged by police today, Benjamin Mendy has been suspended pending an investigation.
The matter is subject to a legal process and the Club is therefore unable to make further comment until that process is complete.
Charges that Man City are 'unable' to comment on are 4 charges of rape & one of sexual assault

If you were out and a footballer you liked started talking to you, bought you a load of drinks and you were getting on great and having the time of your life and woke up in a hotel bedroom having been fucked up the arse would you think 'oh well I probably deserve it'?

You can be "taken advantage of" without deserving it, so that considerably weakens his original statement.
