Easy, Russ.

This is West Ham, knowing us we'll end up getting beat by QPR.

I agree. You could put alot of effort into this and then just get smashed by City in the semi's. I suppose if they beat us next round its one less tournament for Moyes and the squad to cope with.

If we do City then we have a realistic chance of getting to the final.

I'm glad I said that a win here would give us more confidence overall as a squad. If the results had be reveresed we all would be worrying about our squad depth. But we've beaten them in the Cup and should of had a point in the league. We can recover from that defeat relatively easily. But a cup exit is a cup exit. Now the whole squad will feel like it is all in this together. The confidence from this win is greater than than a league win overall. All this without our leading goalscorer. Next weeks game against Genk will be interesting with team selection. I think Lanzini and Kral will start with Rice in there giving Soucek a rest. Genk are 5th in the Belgian First Div A and not to be taken lightly after beating Rapid Vienna away. But we should beat them.

For many years the League Cup has been our most realistic chance of winning a major trophy, so supporters and former managers who look(ed) down on it are total retards.

Have always cared about it, particularly so after the 1981 Sammy Lee incident

Funny how we are now back to caring about this comp now. Fickle? Nah, not us.

Yep a lot of big names left still, and can only take one game at a time. Fancy home advantage could be key here. Cup games under the lights 50k fans, we can win those games against not full strength sides.

I'm inclined to agree. Genuinely I see Chelsea and Liverpool as very, very difficult potential matches, but I fancy our chances against all the others even though i see nothing but very tough games. Starting with the next round first and foremost!

Play like we did yesterday, we shouldn't worry about anyone's changed lineups.

Re: Carabao Cup draw, Man City at Home!!!
Only trouble with getting clubs like them early, even if you do win, a bunch of other big clubs are still in there, getting through with relatively easy wins over lesser opposition than us. Even if we do beat Man City, look at who else is likely to be in the draw:

Arsenal
Liverpool
Chelsea
Spurs
Leicester
Brentford
QPR

I'd fancy our chances against most of them, but it's going to be a bloody hard cup run with more than likely teams in the top 8 all the way to the final. Were we to get through it all, it might be the most impressive cup run in history.

Exactly

Sooner play them early than in the Final

Re: Carabao Cup draw, Man City at Home!!!
I was annoyed about the draw at first, but on reflection I think it's a good draw. As others have said, Manchester City have bigger fish to fry at this stage of the season and I think we can give them a tough game at home.

I'd rather we go out giving it all in a proper cup tie like this than in a whimper away at Oxford or Wimbledon!

Re: Carabao Cup draw, Man City at Home!!!
What Manuel said.

Chances are the eventual winners will have to beat them at some stage so let it be us.

Re: Carabao Cup draw, Man City at Home!!!
Our luck in domestic cup draws is woeful in the last few seasons.

In the last six seasons, we've drawn one of the Manchester sides six times. Almost always before a quarter final stage. That's pretty unlucky. Add to that Spurs and Everton very early on in the EFL cup.

But then even when we've had an easy draw we've fucked it up. Wigan, West Brom, Wimbledon, Oxford.

Our cup form is pretty atrocious of late too.

City won’t be arsed with this cup until the semis. They will be under massive pressure in the league this season

I reckon playing City in the 4th round simplifies things massively.
City have won this trophy for the last 4 years!!! They own the League Cup.
Beat City and they simply give us the cup, job done!

Their second string is definitely beatable at home.

Norm - For sure mate, it's 'easier' to take the scalps of the likes of City earlier in the comp.

Re: Carabao Cup draw, Man City at Home!!!
Manuel agreed mate, by the time the thing progresses even someone as dumb as Pep will start wanting it. Go out in the semis and the players have put in a lot of effort for a semi exit.

Then as a bonus Pep dont even know what position his players can play. Total fraud this cunt.

Bit of a cliche I know, but to win this we're probably going to have to beat them anyway, so would there be much point in say an easier tie next, then play this mob in the last 8? At least it's not away.

Re: Carabao Cup draw, Man City at Home!!!
Yep a right hard draw we have no luck.

What a surprise to see Arry involved in the draw?
Can’t turn down an opportunity to earn a pound note the greedy Arsenal cunt.
