Wearing WHU Shirts out and about
Thoughts on this?

I've literally got 1 top which I wear out and about but it's a retro top with an oldskool badge on it, but haven't had a replica shirt in donkeys years.

Always find it awkward when you see grown men wearing their teams shirts out and about, but can't put my finger on it.

You cunts?

It don’t bother me if people wear shirts, I don’t personally, although sometimes on holiday if I see a Spurs fan I wish I had some West Ham shorts on.

I’ve always been proud to be a Hammer. My 2 boys are young and they have the kits so they’ll wear on holiday for me to represent.

We got back from holiday a few weeks ago and while away, some fella turned up at our hotel wearing a Spurs shirt and had a Spurs tattoo on his leg, probably in his 60’s - my 5 year old said “Dad urghhhhh look at that man, he’s wearing a Tottenham shirt” I said “what do we think of Spurs son” at the top of his voice he shouted “BOOOOOO WE HATE TOTTENHAM”

So proud of him :)

When I was in Petra some years ago (before Man City were good) I was sitting at a table in a restaurant with my missus when some oik in a City shirt walked by outside.

I said something to my missus about the English abroad and a bloke sitting across from me said really aggressively 'we're fookin' everywhere pal'.

I wanted to punch him but we were on holiday so I thought of a way to tell him he supports a shit team.

I said 'I've always thought that Man City were twinned with the team that I support, West Ham. We're both fucking shit and stand in the shadows of bigger, better teams'.

You could see that it didn't really compute as I was calling his team fucking shit but in a way he couldn't get excited about. It was actually funny as he didn't say another word and looked down at his plate like it was the most interesting thing in the world.

Cunt.

Villa last year. Doing my morning walk with that TIW commemorative shirt watching the game on my phone in Umina Beach NSW Oz, some bloke shouts out in a van, traffic were 1-0 up I replied nah 2-0 to which he replied who got it. I replied Lingard
People in other cars were totally confused.

On holiday in Teneriffe a few years back there was two fat geordies staying in the same hotel as us
For the whole week they they wore nothing but toon apparel.
Replica shirts home and away, cut off toon army t shirts and on the occasion they were spotted in a nightclub matching club polo's.
Nice fellas mind.
I also spotted Joe Kinnear out walking with his mrs in Mill Hill and wearing his JK embossed Newcastle tracksuit.
This was a good 6 months after he had been replaced

My general holiday destination selection policy, vis a vis encountering a Brit, in adult football shirt attire, has stood the test of time

Where they should be seen = avoid
Where they could be seen = proceed with caution
Where they won't be seen = on the possible list

A destination where they will be seen = gratitude, that those that do will be there and I will not

My days of running wild with the lads through Benidorm were of a time and that was then, not now

I have a retro shirt that was part of the club's 125 thing.
White with claret and blue hoops (one of each colour).
I wear it out in winter as it is nice and warm and I think it looks great. I'm not the only Hammer in East Grinstead as a guy down my road has a claret coloured car with a West Ham badge on the grille. We have spotted each other and chat about the team when we bump into each other in town.

I think socks have to be the way forward

Football socks and trainers were the look. Time to bring it back.

Don't you think this joke is getting a bit old now Cabbage?

My dad was cremated in the black Thames ironworks shirt that I owned. I bought another one to remember him whenever I wear it, only to the gym or last home game of the season.

I've got a couple of plain black t-shirts with the old badge on them that I also wear to the gym. I make a point of acknowledgement when I see a kid in the street wearing anything West Ham related. I usually smile and say 'irons'.

One day I will probably be arrested for it

On my way to the Leicester game I got on the tube at Redbridge and there was a couple, probably early 30s both in identical kits and C&B Gazelles- was totally cringeworthy even though I was wearing a 1999 away top and a WHU Fila jacket.
