"See Emily Play" Pink Floyd came out the same year as Sgt Pepper. Recon it's better and more progressive than anything on that shit album.

Will look forward to watching it.
Not to argue with anyone, but always thought Psychotic Reaction by Count Five was as progressive as anything else from the 60s, know it's known as a garage track but to me it sounds Punk by any definition a decade before Punk.
And then again there were probably a load of other garage bands before them doing the same who remained in obscurity and might not have put any records out.

I think to sum up my winning argument real men and music fans in the 60s listened to The Who, The Kinks, The Doors and Small Faces while teen girls listened to the Beatles "pop band".
Seems we have a lot of knicker wetting, teen girls on WHO trying to argue their case.

While the Kinks did record a straight forward cover of Louie Louie, I can’t agree that they knicked the riff for You Really Got Me. The two riffs aren’t similar at all

No it wasn't. It might have been when it was released but Sgt Pepper was far more 'progressive'.
However, nowadays I often listen to Pet Sounds, I rarely listen to Sgt Pepper.
