What real life things have people on WHO helped you with - getting nicked...
... Wonderkid and OneFlew both offered to help me with tickets for Man City this weekend, amongst others... this season I've bought and sold various aways at face value and never got ripped off.

But the best help I've got on here was many years ago a mate of mine got nicked but we didn't know what had happened exactly and we didn't know which station he was at to go and help him out... and I told people on here what had happened... then someone I've never communicated with before or since had access to some Police system that could tell me what he'd been nicked for, where he'd been nicked and what station he was at. That was a weird WHOmail to receive out of the blue.

What's the most useful thing anyone's done for you on WHO? Obviously advice on how to make a heron dead was the all time most useful thread.

I once had a plan to take the best recommendations from this site and make a website of them. At the time I had a football blog and was younger and full of enthusiasm.

I was gonna call it Wholist (WHO-list) and started on the back of a thread recommending sports films/documentaries.

I got halfway through a post with links to the docs but then got the arse with it and gave up. The plan was to have a link back to each thread on here that I based the list on.

In my head it became really popular and I made money from advertising. So in a make believe world, you all contributed to me making loads of advertising money.

Many posters on here have got tickets for me.
One Flew last week got me a ticket for Wolves and when I arrived at the pub, there was a pint waiting for me.

Pee Wee gave me and my son a lift to Anfield ; seems like yesterday, but it was probably over 15 years ago.

Met many people on here, and even though there seem to be a few oddballs on here, everyone I’ve met have been genuine.

Bleeding Claret mailed me a few years back telling me to get off this site and die.

Best advice I have ever been given and to this day live by,

I've got tickets for the 2012 Play-off Final (thanks still Def), made loads of online friends, got a huge amount of moral support when I lost Gail - someone here even edited 'Nightmare' back in the day - and let's not forget if I hadn't been on here then my 2nd career with ESPN and the East London Guardian would never have occurred. It's still the first place I come when I'm posting on the Advent calendar too. I don't come here so much nowadays but that's only for personal reasons to do with managing my life post-Lady B. This site needs to stay open or else some of the threads I see on here might result in those people wandering the streets - and nobody wants that!

DefJam, this site a public service. Imagine closing it down and letting us bunch of complete cunts running around in the free world?

As Nelson used to say 'it's Tyburn Tree or Westminster Abbey'. Do your duty to keep us off the streets. As much as I hate everyone on here (which is no big news as everyone on here hates everyone else) it's still the greatest forum in the world and I applaud you and NB for running it. Seriously. Thank you.

Just fix the clock you cunts! Never, ever have a dog icon though as I love how fucked off certain posters get about it.

DJ, Don't ever close this place mate - aside from all the nonsense that gets spouted, there's a a decent undertone and people if in need will help each other out as we've both experienced mate.

That alone is worthy of the place for remaining active.

... actually, also had someone else offer to sort me a lift from Slovenia to Zagreb for the match earlier this season though due to problems with wifi etc I didn't see the offer until it was too late.

I have met some top people off here, some I count as close friends now.
I've met WHO'ers all over the world and honestly to a man/woman they are all pretty much nice people.

Over the years I've got tickets, helped out with tickets, had support through my brothers suicide and losses of mum and dad, had help through law etc

Also Peckham wrote to me after my brothers suicide and we spoke for around 3 years before meeting and I see he's doing amazingly well now, through WHO raising money for a flight to get him back to seeing his dying mum etc

Regardless of the twonks, banter, slagging off etc most will help out if someone needs help.

Many times me and NB have chatted about closing this down but in the end I realise it actually provides a service as well and if it helps people then they know where to come.

Some obvious IT specialists have given me great advice about how to get a computer screen working again.

The last client, a twelve year old's parents were absolutely furious at my technical skills however even though I got it working again despite me saying that it buffs out easily and you get used to the 'aroma'
