KAR BLIMEY Prem target Boubacar Kamara demanding £150k-a-week deal as West Ham join Newcastle in transfer chase for Marseille star

Alan Nixon

TUG-OF-WAR   star Boubacar Kamara wants a £150,000-a-week deal from his next club after West Ham joined Newcastle in the fight to sign him.

The Toon are taking a keen interest in the Marseille star, who is free to talk as his deal runs out in the summer.

However, his massive demands are causing snags.

Both Newcastle and West Ham can get the 22-year-old on a pre-contract now and could even try to buy him this month.

But the size of the contract is making it an expensive swoop.

Eddie Howe’s Magpies are keen but would not be sure to commit so much on Kamara at this stage, especially as their Premier League status is uncertain.

However, that is playing into the hands of the Hammers, who could yet sneak in and would also be willing to wait for Kamara to join in the summer when he is a free.

The France Under-21 international is also being linked with several clubs around Europe.

But his demands may be too great for many and make the wealthy Premier League his likely destination.

Irons boss David Moyes is looking to find a long-term replacement for Hammers legend Mark Noble, 34, and Kamara on a free would be an ideal solution in the summer.

Meanwhile, West Ham are hoping to have Kurt Zouma back in a fortnight to save them signing a new centre-half.

The powerful defender, 27, is close to fitness after a hamstring tear and that is a boost for Moyes who was struggling to find a short-term replacement.
