Is Putin about to make a big mistake?
|
Lots of talk here that he is about to invade Ukraine.
NATO and the US won’t get involved but heavy sanctions have been threatened and Putin has threatened ending all diplomatic ties with the west.
Latest is that Putin will stage an attack making it look like Ukraine starts the conflict.
What’s being reported over there?
Is it about to kick off?

More bullshit sprayed from the sphincter. Russian losses there are massively higher - perhaps not the 7-1 Ukraine has claimed but significant.
Why - because there is zero reason for a smaller army to let itself get bogged down into a war of attrition over a town with little strategic significant.
How you going to cope when this all falls apart. More bullshit and denial of reality I’m sure.

It sounds absolute hell and I hope the US government get push back for refusing to support any ceasefire and peace discussions China has called for. It may not resolve the issue, but for the US to have no desire shows this war for what it really is.

Jaan
The losses are huge, WW1 style, on both sides, because the battles are similar. Remember, the Russian artillery still massively outnumber Ukrainian artillery, so in a static combat, this is why Ukr casualties are estimated to be between 75 and 90% inflicted by artillery, not even close quarter rifle and small arms fire. In a battle dominated by artillery, quantity has its own quality (as somebody once said)

Thanks, rios. That was one of a few articles I read.
The huge casualties was about the battle as a whole.

More from Ukr Pravda (Ukrainian owned, russian propaganda source)
There is no evidence that Mariupol was visited by the real Putin – Ukraine's Intelligence Directorate UKRAINSKA PRAVDA — MONDAY, 20 MARCH 2023, 22:46 3426
Andrii Yusov, representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, said that Ukrainian intelligence has no evidence of a visit to the temporarily occupied Mariupol by the real president of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin.
Source: Andrii Yusov on the national joint 24/7 on 20 March, Interfax-Ukraine
Quote: "Why are you sure that it was Vladimir Putin in Mariupol? We have no evidence that this person was Vladimir Putin. A man who looks like Vladimir Putin is indeed captured on this footage."
Details: Yusov noted that the expert community is currently debating whether Putin is alive.
"But if he is alive, we usually see meetings of the same Vladimir Putin at a long table at a huge distance from living people. He has a trembling hand and many other characteristic features that characterise Putin himself well. Among these characteristic features, there are no evening walks in Mariupol, or communication with civilians in the yards," Yusov said.
According to him, "this is good production" and Russian propaganda knows how to make "various staging sessions".
"But we were not given any evidence that Putin himself was in Mariupol," said the representative of Ukrainian military intelligence.

I think what Jaan refers to is a report from the ISW, here it is c/p from Ukrinform (another Ukrainian govt owned Russian propaganda outlet)
"The situation in Avdiivka, Donetsk region, is tactically similar to what is happening in Bakhmut. The UK Defense Ministry said this in its latest intelligence update published on Twitter, Ukrinform reports.
According to the ministry, over the past three weeks, Russian forces have made creeping gains around the Ukrainian-held Donbas town of Avdiivka, immediately north of Donetsk city.
"The Russian operation has largely been carried out by the 1st Army Corps of the Donetsk People's Republic; local personnel who will know the terrain well. Avdiivka has been on the front line of the Donbas conflict since 2014; the city is now largely destroyed," the update reads.
According to British analysts, the sprawling Avdiivka Coke Plant complex is likely to be seen as particularly defendable key terrain as the battle progresses.
The update states that tactically, the situation is similar to that in the larger town of Bakhmut, further north. "Ukrainian forces continue organized defense, but their supply lines to the west are increasingly threatened by the Russian envelopment operation," British intelligence said."

You seem to have neglected that Ukraine also said
"However, I would like to say that all is not well with the Russian units attacking in this direction," he added in televised comments.
Ukraine has said Russian forces are taking heavy losses in their offensive in eastern Ukraine.”
How balanced of you, Kenneth.

Ukraine says eastern town of Avdiivka is turning into a second Bakhmut, with huge casualties and a threat to supply lines.

I see a Polish diplomat has stated that if Ukraine can not defeat Russia, then Poland will have to fight for Ukraine against Russia.
I hope Polish parents are girding their son's (and daughter's) loins as we speak.

"Make your own conclusions "
Can't a clever man like you just make them for us and have it done?
Let me know what they are before I book my last journey out of Belvedere (nowhere near SE Asia, but very SE London, if you need a geography lesson).

Yeah my mistake, I should have stated it was simply for further ‘access’ to military bases, with charitable US funding to improve them.
They are not US bases for a permanent presence, and the defence agreements between the two countries were "not focused on any particular issue” like China for example.

Now. You just hold on a cotton-pickin' minute there, partner.
Them there's just rented facilities, not bases, no way Jose.
If a bug hairy butch biological male can identify as a women to/and gain legal access to the changing rooms of sweet little schoolgirls, then a "base" can equally be identified as "rented facilities". Innit.
The US therefore has no bases in/on the Philippines.
