Bobby Moore

Yes the anniversary of the great man's passing is spoken about every year but it needs to be, genuinely one of the greats that need to be remembered forever.
29 years already and I still remember how upset I was when he passed away and also being the only time I have cried over anything football related.
Unfortunately I was too young to see him play live
RIP Bobby a true legend for club and country

Timmy, I think it might have something to do with the fact that our legend Bobby took the place of their legend Billy Wright as England captain? Hence the mutual respect.

The Wolves home game after he died will live with me forever.
I remember a couple of Wolves fans running from the south bank onto the pitch pre kick off and thinking 'what the fuck are these pricks doing?', before they laid a wreath in the centre circle. I've always had time for Wolves since then.

Too young by quite a few years to have ever seen him play but our family were at my Nan’s in Canning Town the weekend he passed away.
We walked to the ground and had a look at all the shirts, scarves and flowers and it was very sobering.
Seemed like half the blokes in the east end attended to pay their respects to the great man.

For years I thought I had seen him play as my first match was a 4-2 win v Norwich in 1974...turned out he left for Fulham in January and th match I went to was in April...

Noticed today that Bobby passed on John Lyall's birthday!
Both of them ultimate gentlemen and both missed.

I was driving to Suffolk with a work colleague and she thought she'd upset me as I didn't/couldn't speak for about 20 mins..... I was stunned..

I'm not ashamed to say that I wept buckets when I heard the news of his passing.
He truly was the greatest.

As a 4ish year old brought up in Birmingham I had a poster of him on my my wall similar to this one ... Nobody could tell me when or why I had it but I'd decided at that age to support West Ham while my brothers supported West Brom and Villa...
When he left I took it down heartbroken... I wish I knew what I did with it....

Twice I've had conversations with Germans who had to be reminded who West Ham are.
Mentioning Bobby Moore did the trick.

Like many Bobby was my 1st footballing hero. All schoolboys wanted to play left half at my school. I unashamedly shed a tear at his passing.
