Bike Wanker Hoist By His Own Petard

The self righteous bike wanker of Bristol has been captured getting busy with his camera and incriminated himself!
He blocked the road to lecture a van driver and having sent the film to plod, has himself been nicked and faces being fined up to £1000 for his efforts
Needless to say, bike wanker is outraged - oh dear, how sad, never mind!

'Avon and Somerset police reportedly told Bosanquet that he 'blocked the road' so he could 'converse with the occupant' of the van, and in doing so was himself breaking the law.
They added that the van driver probably 'in his frustration then decided to go through the red light', and sent the cyclist a letter of intended prosecution.'

You're right, if I had a van, of course.

Someone who's driving on the other side of the road could have a sudden heart attack and crash head on into me. Should I be giving every car I pass a ridiculous amount of room in case what could happen with them? Of course not. Just like I wouldn't give a ridiculous amount of room to a cyclist over what could happen to them. I give them enough room, only just though.

That said, cyclist in the UK are perfectly willing to endanger pedestrians by almost universally ignoring "dismount" signs in my experience.

The MAMILs are wankers. However, I've had to deal with cyclists hit by vehicles, often vans. Broken bones and deaths. Cyclists can very easily hit a drain or pothole and sends them suddenly off course. What you're doing is dangerous and might end up with them dead and you in jail.

As annoying as it is cyclists don't have to use cycle lanes,and it doesn't give you the right to endanger them.

I thought the recommendation was at one time to give at least 1m clearance which isn't 'as close as possible'.
If you are inside that I suspect witnesses would say ' the porky bloke in the pink hatchback appeared to move towards the cyclist to intimidate them'.
If there was a HORRIBLE ACCIDENT you may well be sharing a cell with a large oversexed gentleman who keeps you on a leash.

I wouldn't do that to a child. I'd give them EXTRA room, but thankfully the parents who are out with their kids where I am are pretty responsible and use the bike lane.

It's the fat middle aged blokes in lycra starting at their mates arse (like you) that can't seem to bring themselves to use it.

As close as possible indicates to me that there is clearly more room available to you, but you choose not to use it, as intimidating a child on a push bike is something that you clearly get off on. Of course as you're such a 'well traveled man, you're also acutely aware of all the roads that have cycle lanes v all of those that don't. You're only proving by each post that my initial thoughts are right and you are in fact a proper bell end.

Driving 'as close as possible' means there is always a risk you misjudge or they move out slightly when speeding up or due to a gust of wind and you hit them.

That is someone's father/best friend or maybe a doctor who's life you are putting at risk because you seem to have a massive chip on your shoulder.
