Diego Costa having a medical at Wolves.

Knows how to score goals. Might be interesting viewing back in the PL.

Re: Official Transfer Rumours and Gossip Thread
I did say let's judge at the end of the window, I was calm just after the city loss, the results against forest and Brighton meant we should have got business done quicker but to be fair bringing in the players we have done, for me it's been a brilliant window.
I'm unsure on Paqueta, I want him to do well but we have form for buying players such as him and it not working. However the club is different now, we have far better players, a good pedigree about us and a style of play so hopefully that all corms together.
I think this is the only window where if it doesn't work out, the Gold and Sullivan to my mind can't be in the firing line. They have delivered finally, now its time for Moyes to do the same.

Broja just signed a new 6 year deal with Chelsea so y’all can forget about getting him in January.

I think Downes will suffer the same problem as Benrahma. I suspect neither was a Moyes' choice.

Not that I disagree with Moyes' assessment of Benrahma, so maybe he is right to hold Downes back.

Although I expect he will eventually get a run out in Europe. When he does he will need to be more than just ok if he is to impress Moyes. But I think he will have his work cut out

8/10 overall this window. As others have said we have upgraded on a lot of the dead wood which has now left.

Timings of signings probably could have been improved on and also a starting rb but that would have been greedy!

"I wouldn’t write off Downes, he is a very good player"

I'd be surprised if we're able to make a judgement on him at the end of the season.

Oh what a surprise. No wonder he wants to move.

Alex. We were never going to get the like's of Paqueta in early. Lyon themselves have basically said they were hoping for a bigger team to come in. We find ourselves at the glass ceiling. If we want to push on ,we have go for the players that are international standard. But the so-call elite don't fancy. For a player the choice goes something like this.

1 CL team. (Any of the top 5 Leagues)
2 PL team. (Top half)
3 UEFA team. (With a sensible buyout.)
4 Any of the other top 4 league's around Europe.)

I was just perusing our up and coming fixtures.
In the next two months (10 weeks) until the world cup starts we have 18 (EIGHTEEN) games.
Mental,
but going to be great fun!

Re: Official Transfer Rumours and Gossip Thread
So to summarise how our first team squad has changed since the end of last season:

Diop -> Aguerd
Masuaku -> Emerson
Fredericks -> Kehrer
Noble -> Downes
Yarmolenko -> Cornet
Vlasic -> Paqueta

All of those, with the possible exception of Downes, looks like a decent upgrade. Whilst several of the departees were last resort squad players, all their replacements you'd think will be in amongst the first team.

Kral has also gone, which is no major loss, but Coventry has returned from loan.

In terms of added depth there's only Scamacca as a new first team player that doesn't look like a direct replacement of a leaving player. But just that one addition gives us so much more in terms of options especially not having to flog Antonio into the ground.

Overall the players we've brought in look at this point look to have pushed us forward significantly; the only minor criticism is how late in the window a lot of our business was done.
