Another poor bench against Forest.

Re: Official Transfer Rumours and Gossip Thread
Brentford signed Damsgaard for 16m.
Very good attacking midfielder who would be an upgrade on Lanzini.

So our back up right back is centre half again Sunday. Great planning from Moyes & Newman.

Looking like Everton might get Broja, also.

So we're starting with another shit lineup against Forest then? Well done Moyes, top job. Smaller squad than our tiny squad last year. Brilliant stuff.

Re: Official Transfer Rumours and Gossip Thread
Vlasic, Diop and to an extent Benrahma, are victims of David Moyes poor man-management.
He loves his XI so much, everyone else is rotting.
Scamacca is an upgrade, but the other players signed have been a disappointment to be honest.
Moyes has better, but at a very high cost. We will only take another step when he is gone.

Charoo
I'm with that, all of it
Trunds
In line with Charoo's post, but keep posting mate

I suspect your antipathy to Vlassic is that he was bought as a square peg for a round hole and the frustration manifestly focusses upon him

He may be pony, but he has not been given a fair crack to prove otherwise

Re: Official Transfer Rumours and Gossip Thread
Trunds I like your contribution largely on here, you contribute well on a daily basis but those stats don’t prove he had a chance.

Those stats don’t tell you that he was always played out of position.

You are of course entitled to your opinion that he is shit but he isn’t shit and I think will have a very decent career.

Opinions and all that but those stats tell nothing of the chance he was given.

In fairness the only 3 players I would actually care about losing would be Zouma, Rice and Bowen the rest could be sold without a tear from me if an able replacement was coming in.

I don’t care about stats, I make decisions on what I see and Vlasic ain’t a bad footballer. He could have done a much better job than Antonio through the middle for a lot of last season - he protects the ball 10x better even though that is also not his position.

36 appearances, 13 of which were starts, 1636 mins total played, which works out to be just over 18 games if you tally it up.

All I'm saying is that I disagree with those who say he wasn't given much of a chance and didn't play that much.

We were in for Coady but he wanted to move back to Merseyside.

I don't think we were ever in for Coady, I'd hope we weren't

Re: Official Transfer Rumours and Gossip Thread
Last season, Benrahma had more goals and assists than Ollie Watkins, Bernardo Silva, İlkay Gündoğan, Maxwel Cornet and Roberto Firmino. Hopefully we can bring in a couple more failures with stats similar to Benrahma's before the window closes.

Re: Official Transfer Rumours and Gossip Thread
One thing that seems to be a fact ( although again any evidence to the contrary most welcome), every deal we have completed. with the exception of Cornet via Sully's preferred agent Will Salthouse, has involved at least 3 sometimes 4 bids. We have had bids turned down for every player we have been interested in. Why is that? And then wages ./ fees, a similar story. Several times we have met the clubs transfer fee demand for the player eventually but then fail to agree personal terms. Do we do the same thing with a first or 2nd or 3rd offer on wages ? Is this why deals are protracted for us every time?

We may be just the same as other clubs or maybe this window as we chase better quality, more expensive, more in demand players we are struggling to compete financially?

I dont think Moyes has any influence on this?

Anyone know why Stuart Pearce left? Someone said he was going back to Forest but doesn't seem to have materialized?

Re: Official Transfer Rumours and Gossip Thread
Does worry me that 2 of our options ended up at Everton

Sir Alf 8:23 Wed Aug 10
Re: Official Transfer Rumours and Gossip Thread
I think the consensus is that Moyes has failed with 2 transfers Vlasic and Benrahma although there is a lot of doubt about Benrahma being a Moyes choice as he was brought through the preferred agents of Sully.

Ok then we have the question about who does the negotiations, sets the terms and conditions, what fees we will pay to agent and player and of course wages. I thought we had, and have read via Ex, C&H ( yeah I know ) a wage structure in place and what we think is reasonable and then Sully tries to negotiate the best deal from a cash flow perspective etc. ?

In other words, beyond identifying who we want Moyes and Newman are hardly involved. Hence many deals not happening could just be down to what we pay, how we go about negotiation?

I may be wrong and happy to be corrected with "facts" to the contrary but, like I say, don;t see many Moyes transfers being duds and don't think he goes beyond letting the owners know who he wants and 2nd and 3rd choices. So essentially handles the brokering of deals to Sullivan and Brady?

Re: Official Transfer Rumours and Gossip Thread
Make of it as you will, but the reports across the net suggest that Newman has been recommending various players and monitoring then reporting upon them for some time
Make of it as you will, but the window is another clusterfuck of a clear disconnect between board, Newman and manager - we are in last minute desperation mode now - yet again
It would really not surprise me to see Newman take a Captain Oakes style scouting trip .....

Vexed 8:02 Wed Aug 10
Re: Official Transfer Rumours and Gossip Thread
Ah, it's either the Sullivan patented 'double lowball' or the now classic Moyes/Newman 'agree the fee, fuck up the personal terms'.

Dont get excited.
