Re: Official Transfer Rumours and Gossip Thread
Like to see someone dynamic like Gallagher come in. Makes things happen, can chip in with goals, works hard . I cant see him getting in Chelseas side but they wont let him go for small change and its a gamble to spend a lot on him anyway.

Re: Official Transfer Rumours and Gossip Thread
With RM10, to me this has not been a good window, to date, when factoring in what we needed. Granted, it looks like to have signed 2 good CB's. but CB's don't get bums off seats and turn draws into wins do they. Scamacca could go either way for reasons already discussed, Cornet is decent but imo not a next level player, and that's about it. Good window? Nah, not yet, we need 2 more top quality players in then it could be.

Re: Official Transfer Rumours and Gossip Thread
I don’t moan like others on here but I can’t see a player we have brought in that will give us a boost, I’m afraid I don’t rate cornet or scamacca. I hope I’m wrong.

"This has been a good window so far"

yes, but people want to see them start games, not stuck sitting on their arses while the usual suspects keep shitting the bed

Re: Official Transfer Rumours and Gossip Thread
Truly disgusting.

We've signed a player for £10.5m when we should have paid the asking price of £20m and we've paid him in accordance with our existing wages structure instead of just giving him whatever he wants.

GSB out! It's a disgrace! etc, etc, etc

At last, a Kehrer for Masuaku!

How much do you expect us to pay for a back up ffs! Someone who bangs them in isn’t gonna be cheap.

I see him as a similar type player to Fornals, not a finisher but a realistic squad player who can play a little but is hardly what you would call a goal scorer.

Re: Official Transfer Rumours and Gossip Thread
The negativity of some posters here is legendary! We have lost a lot of (at best) squad fillers. Only Mark Noble, who retired, played many games last season. Issa Diop also filled in as a 4th choice CB, but wanted out. Now we have spent a lot of money signing (so far) 5 new replacements, most of whom are likely starters and all of them valuable squad players. Yes we need another 2/3 in and may well still get them. Would you rather have Masuaku playing than Cornet? Was Scamacca a poor signing? Are we not better off for CB’s?This has been a good window so far, with us being around the 4th biggest spenders. It is likely to get even better!

Couldn’t agree personal terms with Emerson.

He’s now off to AFC Wimbledon.

Very chuffed with the Kehrer signing.

Now I’m being greedy - an AM, LB at minimum also required. Also another striker but I can’t see that happening.

Maitland Niles seems a pointless addition if it happens.

Re: Official Transfer Rumours and Gossip Thread
Eh? A utility defender/midfielder with 2 goals in circa 120 top class appearances is a replacement for a player who has scored almost 50 goals in 100 and odd internationals? Come again?

Re: Official Transfer Rumours and Gossip Thread
Sounds like he is Yarmo’s possible replacement. A young Squad player out to prove himself, a bit like Downes….. A possible low risk high reward investment.

If he grew up in Goodmayes then he’ll be one of us…… Give Bowen a much needed real in Cup games…..

Re: Official Transfer Rumours and Gossip Thread
Maitland-Niles?

What an absolutely bland signing. Bit of a nothing player, one of those without a specialised position. And he's certainly no left back.

Re: Official Transfer Rumours and Gossip Thread
He'd also be good for the homegrown quota which we're likely going to struggle with next season.

Re: Official Transfer Rumours and Gossip Thread
I've always seen him in midfield. Maybe once or twice as a right back/wing back.

He's not an answer for our left back problem.

Re: Official Transfer Rumours and Gossip Thread
Deal I can only speak from seeing him at Arsenal & at WBA, he started out as a right mid, occasionally in the middle and most recently as a right back or right wing back, perhaps like Ben Johnson he can play at left back but he's right footed and it won't be natural for him.

Still it didn't hinder Dennis Irwin or Chris Hughton so what do I know, but imho they're the exception to the rule

Re: Official Transfer Rumours and Gossip Thread
Maybe PSG are letting us have players cheap because they have come to an arrangement for Rice next summer.

North Bank.

He plays both full back positions and CM.

Re: Official Transfer Rumours and Gossip Thread
You do all realise that Maitland Niles is right footed and plays mainly on the right hand side

Re: Official Transfer Rumours and Gossip Thread
Can remember when they beat Man City in the FA Cup semi & Chelsea in the final a couple of years ago Maitland-Niles was outstanding at LWB in both games.
Understood when he wanted to leave after that it was because he wanted to play in midfield
