The future of the West Londoners
Roman Abramovic now wants his £1.6bn loan paid back but the UK government has always insisted this can't work. The situation puts Chelsea in a huge existential problem.

The premier league league meet on 8th June to constitute the new league for 2022/23. If Chelsea are not licensed by that time, then they will not be able to participate in PL. Chelsea is even in danger of going down.

~ Via Rob Draper

If this dramatic post is true, there will potentially be a number of players available.

Personally I think its a sad day when politics damages clubs. I'm sure some dodgy deal would be done to avoid this as too many Chelsea supporting MPs and rich doners

Re: The future of the West Londoners
I dont think Chelsea will ever be in the same position now that Abramovich has gone. They will still be a top 6 side due to their now substantial revenue streams. However, I suspect the millions spent on their academy would have come from Abramovich which is outside FFP.
Whlist there is still probably 5 or 6 owners in the premier league willing to spend their own money, only 2 of those are in the top 6.The willing owners can of course accellerate the process by finding spuirous sponsors like City and Everton have athough Everton have managed to waste most of their inflated revenue.

Re: The future of the West Londoners
The idea that the loan could be wiped out / forgiven and a new owner inherits a debt free club was always criminal.
Understand the ruling is that Roman cant benefit from the sale .... always presumed the new buyer would slip him a large amount to smooth this without him seeming to benefit.

Roman is entitled to his £1.6bn and I fully support his efforts to extract his cash from Chelsea FC. ASAP .... or as much of it as possible pre bankruptcy.
Of course the cunts will wriggle out with the support of Lord Coe etc but I look forward to their fans singing Roman's name if he continues with his perfectly logical action.

Never going to happen is it.

They'll be fine, in fact they will get better off the back of it.

Re: The future of the West Londoners
Slightly puzzled by this. Does Abramovich still have any say over what happens or where the funds from any sale go?

Now we really (REALLY) get to see the power the media has over the game.

Re: The future of the West Londoners
Regrettably it'll never happen. The club still hold power within the Premier League and the FA are too scared of losing TV money from what is perceived to be a 'Top 6 club' Still if it does happen then let's not worry too much as the 'clean money and righteous Newcastle' are there to take their place.

Get them back to being a mid to lower half team with 20k attendances before the money came in, they’re only a Crystal Palace in real size

Re: The future of the West Londoners
it won't go that far, they'll find some backhanded way of Roman getting his money - and everyone who helps along the way will get some too.

they'll be bought by another multi billionaire and the status quo will continue.

Re: The future of the West Londoners
I have no sympathy whatsoever for any Chelsea supporter. I'm glad that things are panning out like this for them.
Having their 'paid for ' dominance thrust in my face and the memory of what they were actually like before he came and whT their stadium was actually like means I'm thoroughly enjoying this.
Bwahahahahahahahahahaha
