Cowdenbeath v Bonnyrigg Rose – Play Off Final

Cowdenbeath have been relegated from the SPFL following a 4-0 aggregate defeat against Bonnyrigg Rose.
The Blue Brazil slipped to a 1-0 reverse on Saturday, with a Neil Martyniuk penalty enough to ensure there would be no miraculous comeback in the pyramid playoff final.

The real damage was done seven days prior as the Lowland League champions claimed a comprehensive 3-0 victory at New Dundas Park. Roared on by more than 2,000 supporters, that game underlined the potential of the Lothian outfit.

And Robbie Horn’s men will deservedly take their place in League 2 next season.

By contrast, Cowdenbeath — who joined the Scottish Football League in 1905 — face a challenging future in the Lowland League.

Following yesterday's game, Dan Watt had this to say "The game was a great team effort, especially in the tough conditions. It was a fantastic feeling to help secure a clean sheet for the team and I was thrilled to get on the score sheet.

I want to contribute in any way I can to the team's success. I will work hard to defend from the front and help link up play in the final third and it would be a bonus if I could add a few goals to my game as well.

I've been made to feel at home by the management and players since joining the team. The positive environment has been a great experience and I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone even better over the season.

As a player, I believe my main strengths are my ability to link up play in the opposition half and my aerial presence in the box for crosses from our wide men."

Scott Walker added his thoughts on the game and his personal goals for the rest of the season. "The game went well, we were a bit sloppy in the first half but second half much better, we limited them to very little shots on goal and played the game in the right areas of the park. Wasn’t my best of games but was good to get the goal and help the team with a positive result and another clean sheet.

I just to play as many minutes as I can and help the team win in any way possible. It’s always good to get a few goals or assists so hopefully I can chip in with more of them.

I’ve enjoyed the place so far and the boys have been brilliant since I’ve came in. The training from the gaffer and Colin has been really good and they are giving me a lot of confidence and putting faith in me, so I’m really happy.

I can bring good leadership and calmness on the pitch. I have a good passing ability and good delivery of the ball and always looking to make an option for my team mates."

If any of us come up with a cracking recipe, we could send it in to the Blue Brazil?

Edinburgh University 0-5 Cowdenbeath

There was double debut delight as The Blue Brazil put five past Edinburgh University without reply at East Peffermill this afternoon.

Scott Walker got the scoring underway in the 29th minute when he smashed the ball high into the net to get his Cowdenbeath career off to the best start.

Mikey Cunningham doubled the visitors advantage in the 68th minute when he slotted home from the penalty spot after substitute Dan Watt was brought down inside the area.

Iain Davidson made it three in the 77th minute when he headed in from a corner before Sam Newman got in on the action two minutes later, coolly placing a powerful effort into the bottom corner from a cross from the right.

Watt put the icing on the cake with just five minutes left on the clock to wrap up a comfortable afternoon for Maurice Ross' side.

The win sees Cowdenbeath move up to 15th place in the Lowland League and onto an even goal difference.

TEAM : Farrell, Walker (Thomson), Armstrong (Lemon), Davidson, Robinson, Berry, Cunningham (Struthers), Love, Slaven (Watt), Sinclair (Garrad), Newman

SUB NOT USED : Ruddy

NEXT UP : Rangers B are the visitors to Central Park on Saturday 11th February.

Girl, you've been so good to me
Stayin' by my side through the bad times
All my dreams never came true somehow
But things are gonna be different now, baby
My ship is coming in
Baby, baby
My ship is coming in
And won't it be fine
Girl, we're gonna make it this time
You can throw away that shabby dress
Buy yourself the finest things in town, girl
Dry your eyes, we're celebratin'
Oh, there's so many good times awaitin', baby
My ship is coming in
Baby, baby
My ship is coming in
And won't it be fine
Girl, we're gonna make it this time
I know it's been tough on you
But through it all, you've been so true
Happy to be just lovin' me
And anything you want, it's yours 'cause baby
My ship is coming in
Baby, baby
My ship is coming in
Baby, baby
My holy ship
I've been waiting and it's coming in
Oh, can't you see it, baby
Can't you feel the ship
And know it's coming in
Just to meet you
Everything you wanted
Everything we ever wanted...
