Cowdenbeath v Bonnyrigg Rose – Play Off Final

Cowdenbeath have been relegated from the SPFL following a 4-0 aggregate defeat against Bonnyrigg Rose.
The Blue Brazil slipped to a 1-0 reverse on Saturday, with a Neil Martyniuk penalty enough to ensure there would be no miraculous comeback in the pyramid playoff final.

The real damage was done seven days prior as the Lowland League champions claimed a comprehensive 3-0 victory at New Dundas Park. Roared on by more than 2,000 supporters, that game underlined the potential of the Lothian outfit.

And Robbie Horn’s men will deservedly take their place in League 2 next season.

By contrast, Cowdenbeath — who joined the Scottish Football League in 1905 — face a challenging future in the Lowland League.

MATCH PREVIEW - EDINBURGH UNIVERSITY (A)
Posted February 4, 2023
It's part two of our university challenge as we head to face Edinburgh University at East Peffermill this afternoon with a 3pm kick off.

Three weeks ago, in our last Lowland League outing, we beat high flying University of Stirling 2-0 at Central Park and we will be hoping to complete the double against an Edinburgh side who currently sit in second bottom place two points ahead of Dalbeattie Star.

Our previous meeting this season at Central Park back in late August saw us run out 3-0 winners in what was our first win of the campaign with Aiden Gilmartin, Stuart Love and Scott Sinclair getting the goals.

The following Saturday, the Uni had perhaps the shock result of the season in the league when they beat then leaders East Kilbride at K-Park.

However since then they have went on a run of 17 Lowland League defeats which leaves them with 7 points from 25 games.

Their other points came from an opening day 3-1 win at Dalbeattie and home 1-1 draw with East Stirlingshire.

I wonder if there’s any footage of Daniel Watts stint at Hill and Beath Hawthorn?

Be exciting to see where he fits into the overall plans?

Wee Jimmies will be lively with conversation tonight.

STRIKER SIGNS - DANIEL IS ON BOARD

Cowdenbeath FC are pleased to confirm that they have today completed the transfer of striker Daniel Watt from Bo’ness United.

Daniel (26) is a local lad and of course played with Hill of Beath Hawthorn for a number of years. After signing Daniel said, "When I heard Cowdenbeath were in for me it was a no brainer. Being from Fife I know how big a club Cowdenbeath is and was delighted when the deal went through. Now I’m really excited to get started and do what I can to help us climb the table this season and to really push on to where we should be next season. The management team really impressed me with their plan on how to get the club back to where it should be."

Cowdenbeath’s Colin Nelson added, "Delighted that Dan has decided to join us. He's a boy we've known about since his Hill of Beath days. He will for sure really add to the options we have in attack. My thanks to the board for all their support in making possible the transfer for Dan."

And with the name Scott Walker, I reckon the COO faithful should belt out a rendition of ‘my ship is coming in’ every game.

Whose up for it?

SCOTT WALKER JOINS COWDEN

Last night at training Stenhousemuir defender Scott Walker put pen to paper and signed for the Blue Brazil until the end of next season after the 2 clubs had agreed terms for Scott’s transfer. Right back Scott will be 22 in a few days time and he was previously with Airdrie.

Scott explained, "I am delighted to be signing for a club with good ambitions. There has been interest there for a while and it’s good to know I’m going to a place where I am wanted. I’ve worked with Colin Jack before so I know the standards that will be set and look forward to playing games every week and to help the club get back to the SPFL."

Cowdenbeath’s Colin Nelson commented "Scott is a lad we have tracked for a very long time and had to be patient on. He is a player who has a good profile and I'm sure he will be a big success at the club. My thanks must go to Gary Naysmith and Stenhousemuir in making it happen so quickly. Myself and the club are also truly grateful to some long term Cowden fans who have been willing to provide financial support for Scott’s signing."

Gala Evening And Reunion Event
Posted January 31, 2023
Cowdenbeath FC are delighted to announce that the club is organising a Gala Evening and Reunion Event at Wee Jimmies on Saturday 25 March at 7pm.

Tickets are now on sale priced just £20 for what promises to be a tremendous evening of nostalgia and entertainment. Ex-players from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s will be our guests with the centrepiece being the attendance of many of the players from two of our greatest ever sides - the 1970 team and the boys of 1992. We ask all Cowden fans to rally round and come along to meet our past stars and to enjoy celebrating our rich heritage with them. Many of your own favourites and heroes will be there and they themselves keenly wish to show their ongoing support for their old club as it tackles new challenges - and to hopefully help kickstart a new era.

Full details of the evening and those attending will be announced very soon but please don't miss out, get in quick and secure your tickets for this Gala Evening at Wee Jimmies.

Can’t read too much into that result, but it certainly sends out a message to Scottish football.

The COO are on their long, hard road back.

Good grief!!!!

Iain Davidson (born 14 January 1984) is a Scottish professional footballer and currently plays for Lowland league Football League side Cowdenbeath, in his second spell at the club. Davidson mainly plays as a defensive midfielder but can also be played in the defence. He has previously played for Brechin City, Scarborough, two spells at Raith Rovers and Dundee.

In 2009, while he was captain at Raith Rovers, Davidson was charged and convicted of assault during an incident at Kitty’s Bar and Club in Kirkcaldy. He was convicted of attacking a man with a bottle. [1]

In 2021 the SFA found Davidson guilty of racist and discriminatory behaviour towards an Inverness player. He received a four match ban and was ordered to complete a FIFA e-learning course before being allowed to play again. [2]

In 2022 Davidson pled guilty to behaving in a threatening/abusive manner, aggravated by the fact it involved abuse of his former partner. He was given a six month suspended custodial sentence for good behaviour and a six month non-harassment order against his former partner. He is due to appear in court again on 6th June 2023.[3]

Danny Departs for Camelon
Posted January 27, 2023
Today we have concluded a transfer deal with Camelon Juniors for Daniel Martins.

Camelon have been very patient and persistent in their pursuit of Daniel and we have now completed a deal with them.

Cowdenbeath FC’s Football Operations Coordinator Colin Nelson said, "I really wish to put on record my thanks to Daniel for all his hard work and also his professionalism. He's a great lad and very well liked by staff and the squad. He goes with all our best wishes and I'm positive he will be a big success at Camelon."
