A vote of confidence in Boris Johnson will be held by Conservative MPs from 18:00 to 20:00 BST
If he loses, he will stand down as prime minister
The vote was triggered after at least 54 Conservative MPs asked for it
Sir Graham Brady says he notified the PM on Sunday that the threshold had been met
At least 180 Conservative MPs - a majority - will have to vote against the PM tonight, if he is to leave
No 10 says Johnson "welcomes the opportunity to make his case to MPs" and the vote is "a chance to end months of speculation"
The vote follows anger over Sue Gray's report detailing lockdown rule-breaking in Downing Street

NOBODY needed to "mention that leaving meant that NI would no longer be in the EU and ROI is in the EU.". Those who understood how these things worked were already aware of that.
The issue is goods leaving the UK - of which NI is still a part and entering the EU through the land border.
It's the reluctance of the party in the agreement to instigate the infrastructure demanding such checks that is causing the friction. England, Wales & Scotland should be free to send what the fuck they like to Northern Ireland, which I hope will happen.
You'd think that the EU had no other land borders with non-member states the way some people bang on about it. They do and are perfectly free to use the models they have for those for the UK/EU land border.
The EU can then have another public strop over not getting all it's own way on this matter as it loses the final mirage of "control" it feels it has the power to exert over the UK.

When the leavers were campaigning in 2016 and lying about shit like the EU contributions on a side of a bus they forgot mention that leaving mean't that NI would no longer be in the EU and ROI is in the EU. So ROI should be treated as any another EU state member e.g. France.
Oh no say the leavers. You can't have your cake and eat it.

The NI protocol is being managed in a manner as laid out by the agreement (AGREEMENT) between the UK and the EU. There was no threats of being dry-fucked if one party didn't sign.
I assume one understands what an agreement actually is.
Looking at the (still) pro-EU BBC website, it seems that all (ALL) the issues on UK/EU trade (including an EU member state charging a charity 7,000 Euros to bring it's own bikes into Spain for a sponsored bike-ride) are being generated by the EU, over which the UK neither has or seeks control.
No going back. Ever.

To be fair she landed a couple of blows although having a (for now) raucously supportive back benches helped.
But her problem will come when she tries to convince people the energy price freeze is best paid for with public money than by using the vast profits of those benefiting from it. In that sense Starmer, in his customary underwhelming way, scored the important victory by framing that political choice,
