I’m 37 and had a colonoscopy last year with a polyp taken out. Dad died of bowel cancer after his regular check moved from every year to every 5 years and it came in that time. As all said, way easier than the thought of it and much better than getting cancer.

Second what Alf said - I got put out for mine (its how they roll over here) but it's painless and the prep which I was really dreading more than anything was actually nothing like as bad as I was fearing.

When I got my letter offering me a colonoscopy I was so close to ignoring it, but sought the advice of fellow WHOers.
Great advice it was too, as I went, had a camera pushed up my arse, a few polyps chopped off (which I could watch on the screen), and thereafter, peace of mind.
The thought is far worse than the procedure. A little uncomfortable, but nothing more. If you have been offered one, or have any worries, get it done.

Nychammer. I had a colonoscopy and they removed polyps too. I was amazed that I never felt a thing. I've had worse trips to the dentist.

How sad. Very inspirational and selfless.
Get your colonoscopy as they really are lifesavers - I recently had one and they cut out suspect polyps - but then again she was too young for one as you cant get one until age 50, so that makes this doubly tragic.
