What i remember in 1976 and bath time.

One bath was run.

Dad first, Mum second, me 3rd, then sister last.

Then a hose pipe was flung out the bathroom window to syphon the water to the garden.

"If the argument is that they have "Essex postcodes" then that's down to the Post Office not wasting taxpayers' money in dreaming up a whole load of new ones to pointlessly replace the ones people were familiar with - and worked. "

Spot on Mike

Nobody is talking about the East End - the commentary is stating that Barking, Dagenham, Romford & Hornchurch are in East London, which they have been since 1965; only a simpleton would argue against that.

If the argument is that they have "Essex postcodes" then that's down to the Post Office not wasting taxpayers' money in dreaming up a whole load of new ones to pointlessly replace the ones people were familiar with - and worked.

It depends really, if you’re from the actual East End, then places like Barking, Dagenham, Romford, Hornchurch etc are Essex.

Maybe we could engineer some kind of chemical or biological agents and spread it far and wide via some fancy aerosol delivery system from planes to blanket our skies, to create a barrier from the Sun, would that protect us?

It would certainly help for those rare 2 or 3 odd days a year where we might have clear blue skies otherwise...

Rainham became part of Greater London in 1965 although continued to have an Essex postal address for a long time after that.

It's nothing to get excited about
