Gianluca Scamacca Signed
OS

West Ham United is delighted to announce the signing of Italy international centre-forward Gianluca Scamacca.

The 23-year-old joins the Hammers on a five-year contract, with an option to extend for a further year, for an undisclosed fee from Serie A club Sassuolo.

A towering presence at 6’5 and capable of scoring all types of goals, Scamacca is one of Europe’s top young strikers, having scored 16 Serie A goals last season and started twice for Italy in the UEFA Nations League in June.

“I am really excited to join West Ham,” said the forward, who will wear the No7 shirt. “I’ve waited a long time for this moment – it’s been a dream to play in the Premier League.

“I feel like West Ham is the perfect team for me. They showed they really wanted me and when I spoke to the manager there was an instant understanding.

“I can’t wait to play and show the supporters what I can do in the West Ham shirt – I hope we will love each other.”

Moyes expressed his happiness at adding further quality to a squad that has secured back-to-back top-seven Premier League finishes and reached the UEFA Europa League semi-finals last term.

“We’ve been looking to add more strength to our attacking options for a while, so we’re delighted to have got Gianluca in,” said the manager, who has also brought Morocco centre-back Nayef Aguerd, France goalkeeper Alphonse Areola and midfielder Flynn Downes to London Stadium so far this summer.

“He comes really well recommended – and we’re looking forward to working with him. He’s a young centre-forward with a really bright future ahead of him.”

Was probably MOTM last night from what I saw.

A much more effective CF than Antonio, scores and creates, good technique, holds the ball up well, must start against Villa!

Two starts, two goals.

What's not to like?

Keep banging them in, fella.

Re: Gianluca Scamacca Signed
He has taken both his goals really well, despite the level of the opposition you still have to put the ball in the net. I will be seriously pissed off if Scamacca doesn't start against Villa ⚒

Re: Gianluca Scamacca Signed
It’s about as basic as it gets for a striker but it seems like, if we create the chances for him, he’ll put them away. Fundamentally that’s the most important thing.

Both of his goals so far have been really well taken. Good to see.

Unless you're eyesight is non existent. You can see he's quality Mancini knows a good player and the fact he's considered Italys no 1 striker is telling. It was Mancini who brought argureo dzeko and the hugely underated negredo in to man city .

Moyes frustrated the fuck out of me with his post match comments..said Scamaca not there yet and needed time

Did you see that fucking idiot Antonio when he came on ?, Could not be arsed to run, he's an effing liability

Re: Gianluca Scamacca Signed
Has to start with n Sunday. Shit opposition I know but an actual centre forward who can find space, control a ball, good movement either way and can finish.
If he doesn’t Moyes is a cunt

Re: Gianluca Scamacca Signed
I make FCJ correct in his Haller comment, he could be a square peg in a round hole, and no fault of his own if the instruction is to play as a Carrolesque target man

All I heard of his game prior and of the brief glimpses since, he has so much more to his game. I like his movement, dropping off, shooting and distribution, I see a player more in the Kane envelope than Carrol's

I like what I see and hope Moyes adapts to his strengths

Totally. Looked like the radar was slightly off a few times, but he looks a real handful. Big and strong and it was an utterly dominant header. Loved how he bossed the CB and found his space in the area like a proper out and out striker. Obviously he's not going to have his way like that with the Van Dijks of the world, but that's something we've really been missing.

He looks a top player, think he's going to score plenty of goals for us.

Re: Gianluca Scamacca Signed
Thought he played quite well last night and, of course, he did the thing he was brought here to do: stick the ball in the net.

You can see that he's still working out the team's style of play, how his team-mates operate and where he needs to be at certain times. All of us have got to expect some teething problems while he settles in.

Would like to have seen one or two of our midfield breaking their backs to get a bit closer to him and work off him. But one European game, one goal. Won't do his confidence any harm.

His goal - Cornet's trickery and Scatman's header - bodes well.

Re: Gianluca Scamacca Signed
I enjoyed his range of passing as well a few 30yd cross field balls.

He was also very demanding pointing where the ball should go which I thought was good. He correct most of the time but still the ball went sideways or backwards…

Re: Gianluca Scamacca Signed
‘67 I think the worry is that Scamacca ends up in the same situation as Haller, whereby he doesn’t quite fit well into the team set up and is isolated.

It’s the lack of forward thinking creative players to link with him. I’m sure Pellegrini got Haller to get the owners to spend more… such was his obvious solitude…..
