WHO Poll
Q: 2022/23 You are the Chairman what do you do with Moyes?
a. Stick with him obviously, he's delivered two good seasons back to back and will see us out of this dip in form
b. If we're still lingering around the bottom three by the start of the WC then that's the time to get rid
c. What are we waiting for 2 wins in the last 20 PL games is reason enough to sack him, go now
d. I've just got my new Orange & White 3rd Kit with Moyesinho on the back, I can't wait to wear it down to the supermarket, they call me Mr West Ham around here

Gianluca Scamacca Signed

West Ham United is delighted to announce the signing of Italy international centre-forward Gianluca Scamacca.

The 23-year-old joins the Hammers on a five-year contract, with an option to extend for a further year, for an undisclosed fee from Serie A club Sassuolo.

A towering presence at 6’5 and capable of scoring all types of goals, Scamacca is one of Europe’s top young strikers, having scored 16 Serie A goals last season and started twice for Italy in the UEFA Nations League in June.

“I am really excited to join West Ham,” said the forward, who will wear the No7 shirt. “I’ve waited a long time for this moment – it’s been a dream to play in the Premier League.

“I feel like West Ham is the perfect team for me. They showed they really wanted me and when I spoke to the manager there was an instant understanding.

“I can’t wait to play and show the supporters what I can do in the West Ham shirt – I hope we will love each other.”

Moyes expressed his happiness at adding further quality to a squad that has secured back-to-back top-seven Premier League finishes and reached the UEFA Europa League semi-finals last term.

“We’ve been looking to add more strength to our attacking options for a while, so we’re delighted to have got Gianluca in,” said the manager, who has also brought Morocco centre-back Nayef Aguerd, France goalkeeper Alphonse Areola and midfielder Flynn Downes to London Stadium so far this summer.

“He comes really well recommended – and we’re looking forward to working with him. He’s a young centre-forward with a really bright future ahead of him.”

Got an idea so we all get along.

Antonio and scamacca on the pitch at the same time?

Bowen and Antonio either side of the Italian would be good to see.

Probably send Moyes over the edge mind.

Personally, I'm fine with the way they were played against Wolves. Give Scamacca 60 minutes and then let Antonio run at a tired defence with fresh legs. It's going to increase Antonio's effectiveness and durability and take some pressure off of Scamacca.

I also wouldn't mind seeing both out there but don't think Moyes will do it.

Definitely! I'd love to see Scamacca centrally with Antonio and Bowen running off him. I think we'd cause teams a lot of problems. I certainly don't think it has to be an either/or with them, but Scamacca cannot start every game, so we will need to rest him with Antonio starting games. it's not a huge issue for me as I'm not as down on Antonio as some.

Oh dear, it looks like Triggered Miike is triggered again. Take a cold shower and grow up, son. Fancy getting all hot under the collar because someone doesn't agree with you on an online football forum. What are you, 12? You really are pathetic, son.

Oh, and get some new material too. It's been widely established that I am not Swiss. You are a moron for thinking so.

The difference with Antonio is we know he can play in the midfield with Scamacca up front as well. He’s that versatile.

Manuel I remember that with Antonio it stood out for some reason......him making such a difference and all that.....

Re: Gianluca Scamacca Signed
Agree he's potentially the best striker we have had since Ashton, but of course we've got to rotate him with Antonio or other players. 12 games in 38 days coming up makes that an absolute necessity. Sure he can play the important games over Antonio, but Antonio is still going to have to start at least 4-5 of those games.

Re: Gianluca Scamacca Signed

He has scored 10 goals a season for 3 seasons in a row, yes it's double figures but it's hardly prolific. Tomas Soucek managed to match him in one of those season.

Carlton Cole has scored 10 goals in a season and strikers that have scored more premier league goals than this include Harewood, Zamora and Wanchope.

He overtook Di Canio (who took half the amount of games to reach his 47 goals), Mark Noble and Carlton Cole as the clubs record goalscorer. Hardly in esteemd company there.

The only reason that Antonio stands out and has these records is because of how incredibly poor we have been up front for the vast majority of our time in the Premier League.

haha manuel, with your fickle bollocks. scamacca has more ability than any striker we've had since ashton so why should he be rotated for an inferior player? he'll get plenty of game time but the big man should be first choice

Re: Gianluca Scamacca Signed
I thought Scamacca was excellent Saturday and we were worse when he went off, but a lot of that due to Moyes negativity.

He has scored one more goal this season than Antonio though and played 100 minutes less.

Yes Antonio did change the game when he came on at half time in that match.

But I would trust Scamacca more to finish a decent chance, nice to have both options though.

Re: Gianluca Scamacca Signed
I'd like Moyes to start Scamacca and with Cornet injured play Antonio on the Left - we'd get the best of both hopefully....

But is Moyes too stuck in his ways to try that?

Re: Gianluca Scamacca Signed
It's very typical and fickle of this board to put down our top scorer and one of our best players in recent years, and to champion a bloke who may become very good for us but has only got of to an okay start, albeit not all of his own making.

It was only two weeks ago that Antonio replaced Scammaca at half time and looked on a completely different level to him and changed the game. Some have conveniently forgot about that, it appears? A bit of perspective needed here me thinks.

Yeah, let's bench our highest scorer since we returned to the Premier League, who has got double figures in each of the last three seasons and make him a cup player.

Re: Gianluca Scamacca Signed
Antonio is just so frustrating.

Reminds me in some ways of Masuaku in that he can pull off a world class skill/shot etc one minute and then look like a sunday league player in the next.

I don't even think he works as hard as he used to. He runs a little but he's not throwing himself around in that front line like he did at his best. Maybe this is because he has been told to keep himself injury free due to the lack of any support/back-up lately but if so you would expect that now that we have another option he can do a bit more of what he does best and bully defenders.

Either way, Scamacca's arrival SHOULD benefit not only Scamaxxa himself, but Antonio and the team all round.

I can't see Antonio forcing his way into the team as first choice striker once Scamacca is settled and if he does then that can only mean that Scamacca has not reached ours and the clubs expectations.

Need to see a bit more of him to form a real opinion. I'd still give Antonio the nod over him, but yea fingers crossed with this bloke.

Re: Gianluca Scamacca Signed
He is looking very promising.
Looks after ball, passes well and his finishing looks pretty good.
I would be tempted to play him up front and see if Antonio doing his careening shopping trolley thing on the left work with that.

Re: Gianluca Scamacca Signed
Surely we could see them both upfront at some point in the game and see what happens. As when Antonio replaced scamacca it resulted in these long balls and our game seemed to breakdown somewhat.
