West Ham United is delighted to announce the signing of Italy international centre-forward Gianluca Scamacca.



The 23-year-old joins the Hammers on a five-year contract, with an option to extend for a further year, for an undisclosed fee from Serie A club Sassuolo.

A towering presence at 6’5 and capable of scoring all types of goals, Scamacca is one of Europe’s top young strikers, having scored 16 Serie A goals last season and started twice for Italy in the UEFA Nations League in June.

“I am really excited to join West Ham,” said the forward, who will wear the No7 shirt. “I’ve waited a long time for this moment – it’s been a dream to play in the Premier League.

“I feel like West Ham is the perfect team for me. They showed they really wanted me and when I spoke to the manager there was an instant understanding.

“I can’t wait to play and show the supporters what I can do in the West Ham shirt – I hope we will love each other.”

Moyes expressed his happiness at adding further quality to a squad that has secured back-to-back top-seven Premier League finishes and reached the UEFA Europa League semi-finals last term.

“We’ve been looking to add more strength to our attacking options for a while, so we’re delighted to have got Gianluca in,” said the manager, who has also brought Morocco centre-back Nayef Aguerd, France goalkeeper Alphonse Areola and midfielder Flynn Downes to London Stadium so far this summer.

“He comes really well recommended – and we’re looking forward to working with him. He’s a young centre-forward with a really bright future ahead of him.”

According to EX it's just a storm in a teacup, the player just wanted a change in his agent (which happens all the time in football) which led to the agency kicking off, spitting their dummy out and putting out the statement. Apparently all is fine between the player and the club/Moyes.

he is refusing to look for a new club , both moyes and the agency want to move him on and get a deal done in principle before the end of the season , but he wants to stay in london and fight for his please

He’s part of Kretinsky insurance policy. That’s what the £180 million splurge was last summer. We keep our Premiership status. The SPIVS sell up. Scamacca and co get sold on for a profit. If we drop. Then Scamacca. Paquetta. Bowen and Rice all get new clubs.(Admittedly not for the full price we would like.) But it would still be in the £200 million region. SPIVS still sell up. And Danny boy still gets the club and isn’t out of pocket.

Sassuolo wasn’t ever going to get the price a Premiership team was willing too pay. Nor that eager to sell to a league rival. So what do you do as a player.? Go to England put yourself in the window.(Something that he could have done in Paris.) However if you fuck off one of the European giants. Chances are you’re cards are marked. And get loaned out for the length of the contract. Screwing up your position in the National squad. Feels very much like we are being played by the player.

He had two very good forwards playing alongside him in his last club.

This smells of him (family perhaps) looking to engineer a move away and his agent getting wind of it and sacking him off.

Either way, it will be a huge blow to lose a player with such potential. Typical West Ham United.

Seems extremely peculiar for the money grabbing agent to bin a client, especially one as saleable as Scamacca who is likely goi g to be looking for a move imminently.

I can only assume he's binned them off and they're looking g to save face. That or something is very wrong with young Gianluca.

Either way we need to be binning our manager not our potentially excellent players. This bloke would be absolutely mustard if we played the right way.
