With only 15 days remaining in the transfer window – 15 days and 13 hours at time of writing – excitement is reaching fever pitch in football’s high-stakes game of musical chairs.

Chelsea have sealed the deal for Cesare Casadei, reports Fabrizio Romano this morning, following our report on Monday night that it was moving ever closer. The 19-year-old will arrive in London later on Wednesday to complete a transfer worth up to €20m.

The prospect of Hakim Ziyech swapping Stamford Bridge for Old Trafford has materialised again: L’Equipe reports that the Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, remains keen on a reunion with the tricksy Morocco international after coaching him at Ajax, and that United are open to a deal if the price is right.

Newcastle, meanwhile, can see value in making a raid on Chelsea’s increasingly large squad: the Telegraph reports that Conor Gallagher, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Christian Pulisic and Armando Broja are all players that Eddie Howe could find jobs for at St James’ Park.

Hudson-Odoi has apparently got his retaliation in first by telling the Blues he wants to leave, but Todd Boehly is reportedly only open to the winger leaving on loan.

Further news from troubled Manchester United: Atlético Madrid still harbour hopes of luring Cristiano Ronaldo back to Spain and are even willing to send Antoine Griezmann in the opposite direction as part of a potential deal. Sounds like a plan to us. Ronaldo himself took to Instagram last night to accuse the media of “telling lies”, writing that out of 100 stories written about him recently, only five were right. “I have a notebook,” he warned, in which the Rumour Mill surely features prominently.

Ruud van Nistelrooy took his PSV team to Rangers last night, where they drew 2-2. The former Red Devils goal machine met up with his old boss Sir Alex Ferguson, although there is no suggestion Fergie tapped him up for a playing return amid United’s recruitment woes.

On which note, it seems United’s hope of signing Adrien Rabiot from Juventus is finally dead, while the proposed move for Mauro Icardi of PSG has also stalled. The thinking, however, is that Brighton’s young midfield general Moisés Caicedo, being a Manchester United fan, would be up for the challenge.

Barcelona, meanwhile, have extended their overdraft one more time in an attempt to lure Villarreal’s Tottenham reject Juan Foyth up the road to the Camp Nou. Villarreal want €42m, though, and won’t countenance a players-plus-cash deal. Yeremy Pino, the Villarreal winger who has been linked with Liverpool, will not be allowed to leave for less than €50m, says finger-on-the-pulse man Fabrizio Romano.

Villarreal are eyeing up a move for Manchester United alumni Edinson Cavani, but face competition from Nice. While we’re on the subject, the Ligue 1 side are said to be keen to snap up Arsenal flop Nicolas Pépé. Last but by no means least: Everton’s Deli Alli might be off to Besiktas.

West Ham are paying just £10m up front to sign £33m star, he’s travelled for medical

West Ham United are set to sign Thilo Kehrer and appear to have struck a deal worth just £10million plus add-ons.

The Hammers have been chasing a new centre back over the last 10 days or so having sold Issa Diop to London rivals Fulham.

David Moyes wants additional depth at the back, hoping to add competition for the likes of Kurt Zouma and injured summer signing Nayef Aguerd.

Versatility to play as a full back is highly valued too, and West Ham appear to be signing the ideal signing for those requirements.

It quickly became clear last week that Paris Saint-Germain defender Kehrer had become Moyes’ top target.

The Hammers opened talks and were told to pay around £17million for Kehrer, who cost PSG a huge £33million back in the summer of 2018.

Sky Sports report that West Ham have now struck a deal for Kehrer – and it’s cheaper than first expected.

It’s stated that West Ham are paying just £10million plus add-ons for Kehrer, with the defender undergoing a medical with Moyes’ men.

Kehrer has picked West Ham over Sevilla and a deal could be announced as soon as today.

It’s unclear how much the add-ons are worth, but £10million up front when quoted £17million looks like a great deal for West Ham.

Add in that Kehrer cost more than £30million just four years ago and West Ham will feel that they have secured a bargain.

Kehrer, 25, emerged as a top prospect in Germany with Schalke, tempting PSG into signing him.

First-team action hasn’t come easily for Kehrer but he has notched more than 20 league appearances in three of his four seasons with PSG.

A regular with the German national team, Kehrer can play all across the back four and his arrival looks to be a real coup for West Ham, with his versatility perfect for what Moyes wanted.

West Ham United Still In Pursuit Of This PSG Defender: How Does He Fit Into Moyes’ Plans?

Kehrer’s Decent Campaign For PSG Last Season

Thilo Kehrer mostly came off the bench to provide cover in the centre-half but fared well at the end of last season with a decent campaign for the French outfit. He managed to find the back of the net on two occasions appearing in 30 matches across all competitions.

The Tubingen-born talent tried to be consistent even though he had fewer minutes on the pitch after averaging 0.8 tackles, 0.9 interceptions and 1.0 clearances per game in Ligue 1. However, he has been impressive with his ball distribution as he completed 94.7% of his attempted passes in the French first division (stats via whoscored).

How Does He Fit Into Moyes’ West Ham United?

Kehrer is a decent tackler of the ball as he doesn’t rush into a tackle. The 20-time German international does well to win the ball by making some clever interceptions. He excels in holding on to the ball even under pressure and can play his way out from the back comfortably. Furthermore, his ball distribution remains top-notch as he delivers some great passes down the wide areas in the attacking third.

The 25-year-old has a long way to go and has the potential to improve over the coming years. He is primarily a centre-back but can also feature in the right-back position, so his versatility could bring him up in the pecking order at London Stadium.

David Moyes has a well-stocked defensive department, but Kehrer could bring more competition to the Hammers’ defence, and he could do well to earn his playtime as the East London club competes in various competitions this campaign.
