"Just finished The Killing liked it a lot but not really the last season as much. Breaking Bad, Homeland done Was going to do Luther or The Wire next - can you tell me which one is best of the two?"

"yeah fair enough, if it's a good film I'm ok with gore, but films like Hostel are too much for me, I'm already well aware of what it's like to be tortured for 90 minutes."

"Mr.Anon, In a word, Yes! I didn’t get far enough into it to see any gory scenes, however if they were too graphic I would have probably switched off too. I switched off the latest Texas Chainsaw massacre movie for that reason….."

"Running fashionably late, as usual, I've finally started on The Wire. A few episodes into series 2. It's as well written and well acted and gritty/grim as everyone says, but I wasn't expecting it to be so funny in places. Delighted so far."

Nutsin 2:11 Sun Oct 16 Re: Tv Box sets thread again So you're watching a drama about a serial killer cannibal and what you can't get past is the gay part?

"Finally began Boardwalk Empire last night (i know,i know) and its excellent after 3 episodes. I'm with Manuel, for me,Narcos and Gomorrah set the bar at record heights when it comes to tv drama. Being a massive 'Godfather' nerd i enjoyed 'the offer' as much as anything else Iv'e seen lately. Watched The Wee Man on Prime on Friday and its well worth a look. True story of the life of a Glasgow gangster set in the 70/80's. Martin Compston plays the lead role however, ni subtitles available so some may struggle to understand the dialogue in parts."

"Never got into Dahmer at all, would have been better as a courtroom drama. Watched three episodes of Netfix's The Watcher last night. Quite compelling although a bit similar to an Amityville Horror type of thing, going to stick with it but it is a tad weird."

"Yea, this is the point I've been making on here for a while now, some seem to rave about something so i watch it and don't think it's all that, i don't see anything today at the levels of BB, Sopranos, Prison Break, Banshee, Boardwalk, Narcos, plus many others. The last great show I saw was Gomorrah, which is probably the best TV I've ever seen. I think it helps when it's a true story, so will see it out as only 10 eps."

"Three episodes into Dahmer, it's okay. Must be years since i watched something that really blew me away. These days I find BBC/ITV dramas better than anything coming out the US and on Netflix etc."

Thought the Looming Tower was excellent. Showed 9/11 completely avoidable if the CIA had cooperated with FBI properly! The real footage they show of the post 9/11 review is very revealing

"Finished The Bear recently. Loved it, although some of the scenes were stress inducing. Pretty sure I'd be shit in that working environment. Started on The Looming Tower. 3 episodes in, reasonably good but quite slow. Will give it a few more episodes - anyone else watched it? What did you think?"

"Watched the first season of Yellowjackets, avoiding spoilers and not knowing it was actually a series, not a limited one. Stupidly ridiculous premise and wilderness scenes. Really decent murder mystery essentially. Some really good performances. Might go back."

Not really a box set but the Life of Crime 1984-2020 documentary on sky/HBO is probably the most disturbing yet brilliant yet sad but thought provoking thing I've seen in a while. I'm not sure if I enjoyed it or its just messed me up. Powerful shit.

On Prime there’s an Argentinian show called Yosi The Regretful Spy If you’re happy with subtitles I highly recommend it. Very atmospheric based in the late 80s and the mid nauties. 👍👍👍

4 episodes into The Offer. It's excellent. Mathew Goode is masterful as Rob Evans. Emmy material. Man Rob Evans produced some classics. Didn't realise Sinatra was such a knob.

"Nurse Ratched 6:44 Thu Oct 6 Sounds good. I need to get Netflix back at some point to see the second series of Mindhunter, the last season of Fargo, and the end of Better Call Saul (though that might be AMC+ here)"

"Northern Sold 11:55 Thu Oct 6 Yeah, brilliant series. Evan Peters deserves a lot of credit. Always been great in American Horror Story but this was superb."

IoC I absolutely loved The Good Place. Have a feeling you would too. It's silly but also clever and heartwarming. Plus you'll have a good few series before that absolute repellent C##T Maya Rudolph pitches up and slimes up her scenes with her physical disgusting...ness and profound lack of talent. Luckily her influence is limited.
