I've barely got the energy to write this but it's the Cup...we'll inevitably not try very hard, but it's a somewhat welcome distraction.
They have a striker we were interested in...Richard Kone...who no doubt will upstage the 50m we have just spent.
Predicted Lineup:T-Rex
KWP Kilman Mayers Igor
Rodriguez Magassa
Bowen Taty Sumerville
Pablo
Subs: Areola, Scarles, Mavropanos, Potts, Irving, Paqueta, Soucek, Ajala, Landers.
Predicted Score: 1-1 (lose on pens)

Great point on VAR Faux, I wondered why I'd enjoyed the game so much more today (apart from it being a rare win!)

A win is a bird and all that.
Fancy Norwich away in the next round for some reason.
We'll be away at one of the media darlings as sponsor cannon fodder.
None of the teams that have decent free lounges & refreshments for the media will be drawn against one another in the next round.
Us? Our media facilities? Stale BR sandwiches and own brand mayonnaise sachets - just what a journalist wants.
Shut up you fucking boring moron....you when l said you only post utter bollocks?

Reading that, it sounds a much better implementation than the Premier League's version of it.

Only a matter of time before they eventually succumb the Championship to it.

Was a pleasure to watch a game without the dead hand of VAR looming
That will be one positive in the Championship
Agreed, makes a big difference.

Lovely bit of skill by Summerville to get away from the defender & perfect cross for Taty
More end product like that please Jimmy

I think any West Ham away crowd will be excellent.
The crowd in stadium is huge and has every demographic. Unfortunately too many are polite. That said the polite crowd around where I was eventually showed a bit of support towards the end. I had to move away from my normal place as it was allocated to QPR. Most weeks it can be fun.
I had to move away too. So went behind the goal in Bobby Moore Lower. My son brought quite a few of his mates along who were taking advantage of the under 18 pricing. A lot of them neutrals but supporting West Ham. When the goals went in they were going overboard making a racket and a bloke sitting in front was looking back disapprovingly. Neutrals putting more effort in to celebrate goals than our own fans, that's how low we have sunk.
I enjoyed the game despite us being so mediocre. Some positives but too little too late to make any difference in league form I think.

Main thing is we got through in the end but fucking hell the 11th consecutive game we have failed to win in 90 minutes but this time against a poor QPR side with Home advantage.
Hopefully get another favourable home tie again in the draw tomorrow to keep this going.

Quite pleased Summerville is getting it together. A lot of people were understandably writing him off. I don't know why, but I always felt he might come good. Hopefully he carries on like this.
Although the stadium is a soulless awful place, attributing it as the sole cause for our shit support is letting our fans off the hook. Hat tip to the QPR fans who showed how easy it is to make a noise in that stadium and how to support a team even when they're shit and losing. Us becoming a shit fanbase is a bigger reason for our lack of atmosphere.

I met a QPR lad in Crate before the game. He asked a load of questions but when he asked me what I thought the score would be I said we’d score 2 so they’ll need to score 2 or more.
anyway he said there were 15,000 QPR there. Might have been right. I thought they were shit.
It was 9,000 which is still pretty impressive tbh

Glad we won, BUT let's be honest, our performance was no better than those that led to defeats in the league. We are a bang average side and we struggled against a mid-table Championship side.
And if and when we get relegated, we also will end up mid-table,
On the positive side, we scored two good goals, which both had Summerville at the centre. I also eally enjoyed Mayers and Todibo's performances

Bit laboured for half an hour and the usual soft goal conceded but we deserved the win.
Hermansen spent more time passing the ball than having to do any goalkeeping, their bloke made a few smarts stops.
Team still looks really unbalanced but Castellaneos' first touch, movement and reliability of pass is welcome. Pablo is a bit raw but he does occasionally make defenders bounce off him - a much missed attribute in West Ham forwards for a couple of seasons at least.

Now I have finished watching the game, had a shower and eaten my spaghetti bolognese I can comment a bit more than a few lines.
Special mention to Summerville who I thought played very well today, looked interested and looked to actually be enjoying himself. Bowen, I don't want to criticise him but he isn't a leader. I saw more barking of orders and pointing from Soucek in his limited minutes than I did from Bowen all match. Lets not pretend he also hasn't put on a few pound and lost a bit of 'edge/pace' This should have been an ideal game against inferior opposition for him
The manager, well I don't know what to say, he looks disinterested standing there with his arms folded a bit like Roeder used to. Is he looking to get the sack and a pay off? Is he being deliberately stubborn to force Sullivans hand in the transfer market or for a pay off? Is he just tactically inept? Whatever it is I DO NOT want him leading this team/squad wahetever is left of it in the Championship.
Luckily today QPR were shit, proper shit, these are the sort of games we will have to grind wins from next season and we will also have to address our awful home form as that will be key as well as grinding out points away from home. It is not going to be pretty but I am confident with a mix of youth and experience we will be top 6 - automatic promotion at the frist attempt will be difficult.
Unfortunately for the optimists out there I saw nothing today to say we have a chance of avoiding the drop, and that starts again with a probable loss to Spurs next. Frank under pressure? Step up West Ham

Well taty scored, looks fit and interested. Already an improvement on last january's recruit -Ferguson.
Both the two new player put a shift in and pressed much better from the front. Even that is an improvement

Potts just wasn’t in that second half at all.
He’s a promising player. But too many games pass him by as he watches. He needs to learn how to consistently influence matches (and even phases of play), especially as he tires.
Noble had a similar issue when he was younger.
He simply ain’t good enough.

It has to be said that regardless of the result there is absolutely no point at all in keeping Nuno. I'd rather have given that 50 odd million on a young forward thinking manager, someone like Bungle out of Rainbow for instance, an upgrade on what we have now.
Jack Wilshere or Ryan Mason for me.

Two average championship sides.
Crysencio - excellent
Magassa - dreadful
Potts, Mayers and Soucek - special mentions.
A win is a win but my god it was cold.
Special mention for Potts for being utterly dreadful?
Potts was very good, you just don’t like him because he turned you down for a bit of bum you fucking idiot.
