Watched The Brutalist at the weekend, Guy Pearce was super in the supporting role but jeez did they not have a cutting room as it seems to go on forever, 7.5/10 though but have plenty of coffee on standby to avoid drifting off

OK it's not a recent movie but I'm currently watching Ran, Kurosawa's adaptation of King Lear, what a fantastic feast for the eyes it is, absolutely superb, if you haven't seen it get the 4k Ultra Hd version, you won't be disappointed.

Has Stephen King done anything decent in the last 20 years?

As per Anon's post. Of course James Wan has directed and written Saw, The Conjuring , The Nun and Anabelle etc. Quite a CV.

Dr Sleep, Mr Mercedes, and 11/22/63 were decent books with good adaptions 

You took the words right out of my mouth. But he's not as prolific as he was but I guess that's age.

Sadly they wont be making the second part of 11/23/63 which as shame as the first part was excellent as was the book.

The Monkey is released tomorrow. A Stephen King and James Wan collaboration. Doesn't get much better a team for horror.

Talking of Liam Neeson films: I thought Absolution was a pretty good watch! A couple of his more recent films, this one included, have been very watchable. The other one being ‘In the land of Saints and Sinners’ 

I thought that  saints and sinners was a decent effort .
If only for the change of scenery.

I watched Heretic the other night. Now I'd heard a lot of hype about this and no I didn't think it lived up to it. However High Grant's performance is very good. 

Agreed, its a watchable film, but nothing more, Grant has really come into his own since he ditched all the Romcom shit.

Watched Dogman (2023 one), if you like dogs, its a good way to spend a couple of hours. 

I think his role in The Gentlemen is very good but my favourite is the sleezy arms dealer in Operation Fortune. It also has the delighful Aubrey Plaza. Unfortunately you do have to put up with Jason Statham ...again

Watched a horror film called The Damned with Joe Cole in it recently. Pretty good.

Watched Back in Action last night on Netflix starring Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz who is on screen for the first time in ten odd years.  Think it was during the filming of this Foxx was taken ill, hence a 2025 release date.  It's ok, an enjoyable enough action flick.  I thought it was similar to the two RED films Bruce Willis did.  Thought Jamie Demetriou was very good and it also stars Glenn Close although was surprised Helen Mirren didn't pop up in that role!  Worth a watch if nothing else is on.

Watched a very good low budget Italian movie A Classic Horror Story with the gorgeous Matilda Lutz,

Watched Nosferatu luciky at home for free. Very disapointed in what is basically the Dracula story with no additional  twists and a terrible ending, I wonder just why they made it in the first place. I thnk the 20s and 70s versions were better.

Red One: Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans star in this Christmas tale, trying to find the kidnapped Santa Claus and save Christmas. Sound familiar?
A pleasant way to pass the afternoon.

Lake George - Good little crime thriller

I thought Kraven was very good. 

Now looking forward to Nosferatu.
