I've barely got the energy to write this but it's the Cup...we'll inevitably not try very hard, but it's a somewhat welcome distraction.
They have a striker we were interested in...Richard Kone...who no doubt will upstage the 50m we have just spent.
Predicted Lineup:T-Rex
KWP Kilman Mayers Igor
Rodriguez Magassa
Bowen Taty Sumerville
Pablo
Subs: Areola, Scarles, Mavropanos, Potts, Irving, Paqueta, Soucek, Ajala, Landers.
Predicted Score: 1-1 (lose on pens)

Neither have looked great so far but they've come into a new team in anew country and league, a poor team at that... Hopefully they can be decent
That's how bonkers the signings were when in an immediate Relegation dogfight where time is not their friend to settlle in. In that sense I feel for them expected to instantly produce it. I'd also doubt if either will want to hang around should we drop down a division texting Mendes if they could activate their Relegation clause..
Hard to disagree, but a case of beggars can't be choosers. I wouldn't be feeling sorry for them though as they'll be well paid and weren't exactly duped.

I guess with Pablo (vs Grainger or similar) that Grainger has a limited ceiling that is known, but Pablo could have a far higher ceiling but it's a total gamble as to whether he does or not. .
Yea that's a fair point, but based on limited evidence he has a very long way to go, plus we need goals now, not that Sargent (ginger) would have guaranteed them of course.
Sorry yeah Sargent- not idea where Grainger came from!!!
Completely agree we need goals now. I'd worry about Sargent as didn't he just score 1-2 last time they were in the prem? It's a massive gamble on Pablo. I mean I admire the bravery but the stakes are high and we cannot afford a swing and a miss. I think Taty will get a few if we get him the ball in good positions. He looks like he has some composure and quality. Pablo is a hige question mark. We just have to hope he can click. He looks just as much like he could be a sakho and score 5-6 as he could be a just another one in a long line of dogshit strikers through the club- he is one you buy when you're stable and he can learn the game slowly rather than being chucked in at the deep end ideally. Want to see him start a game to see what he's got from the start.

Great to see so many old faces out for the Cup yesterday, ruined by the football as always, we've found our level.
We are fucking awful to watch, just playing it across the back 3, out to the line, couple of passes, back to the back 3, play it out to the line on the other side, same shit again.
Probably not down to Nuno. It's basically hiding and mistake avoiding. It's what frightened players, totally lacking in confidence do.
Yes! We play scared and have done since the Moyes days. The ball is like a hot potato and so few of them want it.

I guess with Pablo (vs Grainger or similar) that Grainger has a limited ceiling that is known, but Pablo could have a far higher ceiling but it's a total gamble as to whether he does or not. He may well do- he may well settle in and get 6-7 by the end of the season but he does look a bit like a headless chicken. HOWEVER, he's got legs for days and clear willing to get himself about and move which is at least good. I haven't been impressed with anything other than energy and enthusiasm so far but I will not write him off after two halves of football, basically. I'm hoping he'll get himself established build up an understanding and knock a few in. But I do struggle a bit with what sort of player both him and Taty are. My impression was Taty is deeper and Pablo is the out and out striker but its been the opposite so far.
No doubt these two have come in and bright a whole lot of willing and energy with them. Can't ask for much more in terms of effort which is a very solid way to start here. Taty looks like he has a bit of class if we can put together a coherent gameplan. I do want to see him linking with Fernandes and Paqueta.

If we are spending circa 20 mil on Pablo I don't know why we didn't go for ginger at Naarwich, who we were heavily linked with. He's no Van Basten, but for my money would have been a better punt for around the same price.
I agree. Although the word is that he wants Premier League football next season. He’s one (probably of many) who was worried he’d be back in the Championship in August.

Impressed with Taty, he's got a bit of quality about him.
True. But you are a Pot Noodle: you’d be happy with any fresh ingredient.

That was still pretty bad. Struggled to move or keep the ball even against a mid table championship team while they even with clearly less quality than us were able to defend as a unit much more successfully and pass and move much better and advance the ball. We were clueless with the usual pass along the back then out to the full backs then back to the centre backs as nauseum while no one found or created any sort of space on the middle to advance play. We also really struggle to hand on to he ball under any pressure or pass successfully to our own players unless it’s at the back. It’s been like this under four managers with a whole different set of players. We are a dreadful football side far worse than the sum of our parts. Still struggled to get forward as a unit on those occasions we did break the lines.
We were lucky they got tired. It was easy for them to contain us and keep us in front of them. If they had better players they’d have been able to play through us like every other team we have faced this season.
Summerville did play more effectively but he was playing against a lower quality of side. He still did a lot of his running into blind alleys with the ball. Magassa was appalling aside from the assist. Taty looks decent and a fighter. Well taken header. Pablo looks a bit of a headless chicken gets about well but I don’t think he’s very good and a bit out of his depth. I think he will really struggle. I also don’t really get why out of the two of them he seems to play deeper.
Do we ever need another CB now. Do we know what actually happened to Mav apart from ‘neck’? I hope that bloke from Brentford and at least one more comes in this week. It’s all gone quiet after taty and Pablo. As if Sullivan thought that was all that was lacking.

The 2 absolute dross strikers we’ve bought will not match the 4 goals that Wilson scored between now and the end of the season
I don't get why Pablo is not playing as the out and out striker, his biggest strengths are his strength, holding the ball up and heading?
Gary K from Bobby Moore Stand thinks otherwise
Oh yes Gary K that well known football expert.

The Hammers Chat guys have already written them off, bunch of twats.
This is why we get what we deserve sometimes, we want instant success from our signings but sometimes it takes a season for them to get use to the hustle and bustle of English football.
Thiago for example, first season in the premier league only played 8 games and 0 goals, Mbuemo first season the the premier league 35 games and 4 goals. They have both worked out pretty well.
Players need tome to adjust, a Frank McAvennie type instant success is a rare thing.
I thought Taty looked lively and made a nuisance of himself and Pablo did enough to indicate to me that he has something about him.

Bit early to write them off but yesterday I couldn't work out where Pablo was supposed to be playing as he kept dropping deep. When he did go up top he won a flick on and generally caused a bit of a nuisance, put in a shift as well.

It was all very much huff and puff with both sides lacking a cutting edge, and didn't see anything to give me much hope moving forward. We just severely lack any real quality for a PL side. Early days, but not sure about the two new arrivals up top. Good to be in the hat regardless and hope for a kind draw.

Could not watch the game as could not find a stream that works but reading between the lines we found our level today in a tight competitive game.
You will probably have that issue every week next term.
