Woke watch
"There is a very good section on GB news where the ludicrous idiocies of Wokeness are looked at I thought we would should have one for WHO. I'll start with Baptiste on BBC: In Hungary,an ambassador's family are kidnapped by Islamic terrorists and carry out atrocities. At the end of the last episode Baptiste finds out that it is a false flag operation and conveniently, the real culprits are white supremacists who want to stop all immigration. Coronation Street ITV a gay black footballer is stopped by the police, because he is driving an expensive car. He is pushed to the ground during an altercation, and damages his leg threatening his career. Could have been written by Dawn Butler or a BLM activist."

Re: Woke watch
"Sven No, not at all. I'm disturbed by the BBC presenting a propaganda piece as reportage. Why did they interview three Cheney supporters to one when the result clearly showed opinion in Wyoming is the other way round? Why was the one anti-Cheney interviewee portrayed as a redneck cowboy? Are to believe that Wyoming consists of 75% rednecks? Why is there no discussion of the morality/legality of what would appear to be Democrat vote-rigging - to whit, pretending to be Republicans in order to undermine Trump? The article pre-supposes its readership will all agree that such tactics are legitimate, It's entirely woke. Not only does it support shenanigans on the part of the left but also engages in shenanigans of its own with its caricature redneck Trump supporter. Essentially, the article is saying, 'tragically, all these lovely, clever liberals were unable to defeat the menace of the thick right'. This attitude is entirely consisted with its Brexit coverage when remain equalled clever and good and leave equalled racist, thick and bad."

Re: Woke watch
Surfy is bent out of shape because by the look of the report the bbc: Revealed that hard core Repubican former office holder (the father of the candidate) Dick Cheney is supporting his daughter A bloke in a cowboy hat is a Trump supporter Another Republican travelled to campaign for Cheney as they presumably want to distance their once respected party from Trump Some Democrats registered as Republicans to vote against a Trump supporter Seems a fair summary of the factors at play

Re: Woke watch
"This is an example of why you should boycott the BBC license fee. Just for context, in Wyoming pro-Trump Republican Hageman has just absolutely thrashed anti-Trump Republican Liz Cheney in the latest congressional primary. The BBC acknowledges this (difficult not to it was 70-30) but here's how they report it: 'Earlier, at the state's junior rodeo finals in the city of Casper, some voters told the BBC how they had soured on Ms Cheney. The rodeo president, Chad Westbrook, said from beneath his 10-gallon hat: ""When she goes against the masses, it doesn't work good for us. ""We really liked Dick Cheney, you know, but she's gone too far."" Ms Cheney's famous father, once a hate figure of the American left, now finds himself something of an anti-Trump fellow traveller. In a campaign advert for his daughter, Dick Cheney had described Mr Trump as the biggest threat ever to the country. Outside one polling booth, in a charming wooden schoolroom overshadowed by the stunning Teton Mountains, Democratic voters had answered Ms Cheney's call to switch their registration to Republican in order the lend her their support - itself a sign of how poorly she had rated her chances. ""I've never agreed with one thing Liz Cheney has ever said, but I respected how she fought for democracy,"" one such voter, a middle-aged woman, told me. ""I'm a Democrat and I came out and voted for Liz Cheney because she's standing up for truth and that's what we need in this country,"" another man of similar age agreed. In the suburbs of the state capital of Cheyenne earlier, a group of Republicans were knocking on doors in a show of last-minute support for Ms Cheney - something they clearly accepted was an uphill battle. Evan Wagner, who had driven 17 hours from Austin, Texas, said: ""She's standing for principle, she's saying I don't care if I lose my job, I'm going to do the right thing."" But their efforts were in vain. Wyoming primary elections do not normally attract much media attention. Tuesday's vote is being seen as a test - not just for party but for country too - of how much the legacy of Donald Trump and his election denying narrative continue to loom over this landscape.' Notice how, despite Hageman winning by 2 to 1, the BBC interview voters 2 to 1 in favour of Cheney. And just look at those interviewees - the pro-Trump guy is portrayed as a red-neck in a 'ten gallon hat' from a rodeo, but in contrast, the anti Trumpers gather in a 'charming wooden schoolroom' and drive 17 hours to oppose him. The liberal bias is criminal - the sooner they are gone the better."

Brando sent her on his behalf to refuse an Oscar because of the depiction of Native Americans by the film industry Booed by the audience and believe John Wayne (surrounded by 6 security guards) wanted to drag her off stage. Marion bottled it presumably

Re: Woke watch
No they booed her because she went on stage on behalf of Marlon Brando to give a long speech on how the native American has been persecuted but she was only given a minute. Must have affected her deeply for 50 years.

only1billybonds 10:51 Mon Aug 15 Morning mate. May I recommend 'So You've Been Publicly Shamed' by Jon Ronson? It's a quite brilliant (and funny) account of social media and the ruinous public pressure it fuels.

Good for him. The vast majority crumble these days and apologise despite not having anything to apologise for. He didn’t even do the ‘I apologise if anyone was offended’ weasel apology.

Re: Woke watch
"Graeme Souness has issued the following statement following his comments made on Super Sunday after the Nottingham Forest vs West Ham and Chelsea vs Tottenham games: ""To clarify my comments from yesterday, I was referring to the two Premier League matches I watched live on Sunday afternoon, rather than the sport of football. Football is a game for everyone to enjoy."" That's brilliant. Souness probably said not to say sorry in Sky's statement they produced for him, and giving the dickheads a massive fuck you."
