As if you had to choose between diversity and meritocracy. It is actually the case that choosing on merit promotes diversity because the candidate makes the job requirements whatever their gender, colour or sexual preferences.

That is what capitalism is all about - it needs educated, skilful labour and the result is a diverse cadre. Such basic stuff yet you still contrive to fuck it up.

LOL. I so glad people pushing this actually believe this as my job has got a lot easier since the diversity hires started coming through. Long may I be measured up against them for my bonus.

Maybe someone at you company responsible for hiring is having trouble matching a set of business requirements to a person - they may lack the assertiveness to stand their ground. Oh but I think it's safe to say you won't be getting a bonus according to how you measure up to others; you'll have to achieve your own targets so you might be well advised to cooperate more and judge less.
