I know this is not a popular opinion, but I don’t think this signing is that bad. By the sound of it, he won’t cost that much (relatively speaking) unless he does well. He is old, he is injury prone, he’s said some things about us in the past, but he’s is/was a top quality forward.

He will be taking up a squad space we should be using for an up and coming, not an old and almost finished. Usually I’d want anyone who pulls on the shirt to do well, but this is so blatantly obvious that it’s a terrible signing, age, legs gone, injury record, past references to the club etc. I can’t wish him well and I’m not believing that Potter would want him.

 

Spot on. The club have already told Scarles his chances are limited through signing Diouff and Walker-Peters (spin that latter "cover" signing how you like). They are now telling Marshall the same. Next it will be Potts, Orford, Earthy, etc. Whether Scarles; Potts and Marshall are the real deal we don't know.
