I will just point out that at Bournemouth we had far more attacking chances and shots on goal than they did and only converted one.
Statistically the chances of us losing games where we go all out attack are very high because we dont convert enough of our chances anyway!
So I think Nuno is probably right on balance with his approach until we get better, more clinical forward players in the transfer window.

We have 4 winnable games, 3 at home and Wolves away.
If Nuno attacks more and none of this 5 at the back with Rodriguez in midfield.
He should know now that he can't sit back in every game.
I doubt he will try and win more than 2 games, draws are not good enough.
Wouldn'tit be wonderful to win 4 of those games because we attacked more,we might get lucky a get a bore draw against Villa.

Meh, I can see the improvements he's brought and while they haven't necessarily yielded results as of yet, it's not even up for debate we are a better, more organised and hard to beat team than under Potter and Lop, and with more of a cutting edge than under Potter. Yes there have been a few missteps (Leeds, Liverpool) but the trend is upward. The squad was/is absolute dogshit barring a handful of good players we have and to a man underperforming. He's improved players.

Under Potter. 6 games, 3 points, loss to WOLVES in the cup, 7 goals scored and 16 conceded
Under Nuno. 10 games 10 points, 12 goals scored and 16 conceded

It ain't great but beggars cannot be choosers. It's better in every metric and we'd be down near wolves with probably less than 10 points at this moment. The projection would be 38 points under a full season of Nuno which would almost certainly keep us up. For the record it would be around 19-20 under Potter had his trend of results continued, but I struggle to see where we'd have even got that given how bad it was.
 
IF he gets what he wants in January and we have a functioning first team never mind squad, we should start picking up more points. It's just a case of whether the damage done by Sullivan, Potter and Lop was too much to overcome or not.
 

This is kinda' where I'm at.

Now that he's stopped pissing around with inverted full backs etc., there's little doubt that Nuno has improved the team. We've gone from being relegation dead certs under Partridge, to having a fighting chance. The team's structure is better and players have more of a clue that they're doing in most weeks. We're "in" games far more regularly than we were. Playing some of the kids has also given the side an energy we lacked, and brought the crowd onside a bit more.

Hopefully, the manager has had a good think about what we need to prioritise in January. A couple of good loan deals might see us right enough to get us out of trouble. I don't think we've got much money to spend, unless we can offload some of the dead wood who might still fetch a fee, like Fullkrug.

Two well-targeted loans (including a striker) and one canny signing - while offloading Fullkrug and Rodriguez - might well be a decent January.

But before any of that, I'd like to see us pick up five or six points over the festive period. That will give us a proper fighting chance. We're capable of picking up points against Villa (only because we're at home), Fulham and Brighton. Man City will probably thrash us.

I feel more positive under Nuno than Potter. If that bloke had stayed, we'd have been down in March.

The most immediate problems are our limited ability to score which seems to boil down to Bowen and 33/34 year old Wilson ( did he look faster than usual yesterday or just the result of being fresh when he came on?). I guess Soucek might continue to pick up the odd goal too but generally going forward we struggle to either create and/or put the chances away. May have to wait until Jan on this and pray we get recruitmentvright for once.

Second big issue, partially linked to the first, home form. Nuno’s low block and countering tactics lend themselves more naturally to playing away as the onus is on the home team, urged on by home support, to try to take the game to the opposition. Although admittedly we looked like the away outfit against Liverpool and will against the top teams anyway.  Nonetheless, we are not strong enough at home and need to be picking up regular wins there to have any chance of survival.

Villa will be a tough game. Im hopeful they bring yhe game to us as I think it suits Nuno’s tactics as it once did under Moyes 20/21 and 21/22 seasons albeit the rot started setting into the squad latter part of 21/22 season IIRC

I know it doesn’t look like it on paper. But he’s transformed how we play in a very short space of time. I think you have to actually watch us play and compare us to before he came. We really don’t look easy to play against at all. We don’t freak out at every set piece against us. No one is running through the middle of our midfield and scoring like they did before. Teams are getting deflections to beat us. Or they are getting dodgy reffing decisions. 

I remember when Curbs took over and it looked like we were going nowhere for ages. You could see us getting better and better but not enough for us to ge out of the relegation zone I think we had a game against spurs where we lost but played really well. We then kicked on from there and stayed up. 

I feel like it’s a bit like that this season but over a longer and easier period of time. We have the time to tune our game, get the right players in Jan etc. 

we have the back and midfield sorted I feel. Controversially I think the missing players are a Summerville with end product and a proper striker and we will kill teams. They will not be able to handle us because we’ve built a solid structure. 

im optimistic because I can see with my eyes the improvements we have made. 

and finally, park the bus / low block means when the ball goes out your defensive line doesn’t move. You use all your outfield players bar maybe the striker in two solid banks just outside or on the area and never want to play the ball. Only to defend it. Thats not how we play otherwise we wouldn’t have as many scoring opportunities that we had. They also would have had more shots on target if we played like that. They weren’t getting shots off because we were doing the work in midfield.

at the end of the game the team chasing will always overload. Thats why we get pushed back. They take the risk because they need to. What people are advocating is that we take the risk and leave their players unmarked so that we score. I get it. It’s the managers choice. But I think getting used to not leaking 2 or 3 goals every single match may help us in the future.

Always wonder why when we get a result the opposition have had a shit game rather than we forced them to have that shit game? Before yesterday Brighton had never failed to have a shot on goal in the 1st half yet yesterday they couldn’t manage it for some reason? We on the other hand had quite a few chances we didn’t convert. 

I think if you let a team play there normal game they will kill you. Thats why we setup tactically to nullify these teams. A lot of the bigger sides want open games because they have the individuals and space to outscore teams. We don’t have that luxury. We need to be hard to play against. 

I bet every team we’ve played under Nuno has had to battle to get anything out of us. Liverpool were lucky. Same with Brighton and Man Utd. No one is outplaying us anymore. It’s not an easy game like it was under Potter, Loppy etc. and you only have to look at Moyes record at the end of his tenure. We have been destroyed by 3 or 4 goals so many times I’ve lost count. 

The impressive thing for me yesterday was that even though we took our 1st choice midfielders out for the 1st half the replacements still did the same job. There wasn’t a huge difference when Potts and Magassa came on. I think the hallmarks of a strong team are consistency of play with whatever squad members are on the pitch. Strong patterns of play and work ethic before individual brilliance will keep us in this league I believe.

I wasn’t expecting much from the last two games so I’m pleasantly surprised by the two points, but yesterday could have been 3.
I thought the Liverpool performance was much worse than either of the two away games.

I will cut him some slack as I can see a game plan and I can see some fighting spirit from the team. I don’t love the way we play, but add some more attacking options and we will become easier on the eye.

I'm obessed with the kids playing when they are good and better than what we have.
I reckon Kante would be as good as Magassa if he had been given more game time in the games where we had only used 3 subs or needed energy. Earthy has not been given a chance when we had no else but Nuno decides to put on a defensive player and we lose a lead late on or there is an opportunity to kill a game. Marshall could have done a better job than Fulkrug and if he had come on against Man Utd given Wilson a break after 70 minutes. I'm seeing an opportunity lost when Nuno does have alternatives. Rodriguez instead of Potts and Magassa for 45 minutes,you're having a laugh. Why drop Rodriguez,Fulkrug,Igor from the squad ?Why have any of them when they are going in January ?

Nuno's ultra defensive tactics has lost us more games than gained. So why persevere? He rectifies a mistake by putting Potts and Fernandes in a we win keeps it for the next game then changes it.

Of course everyone is entitled to opinions, debate is good, but some of the shit being flung at him after 10 games is ridiculous. We have 1 striker worth a rub of salt, and he's 33 ffs, 1 genuinely quick player in the whole squad and he's injury prone.

The man deserves our backing for now, the all round improvements are clear, none of the deep routed problems are his fault, I'm hoping a minimum of 3 new players come in next month, and then we can judge him a bit more harshly.

He has improved Todibo and Areola, as well as try to play as many youngsters as he can, that shit is great to see. 

The Todibo uplift has been quite something. Be it bringing out a better attitude or making him better. Areola, in fairness, was often an 8 or 9 out of ten but subject to wild fuck ups too in other games. His save from the potential Kilman OG today was incredible.

I like the forward planning with Mayers coming into the squads knowing we’ll be light at left back during AFCON.
