He's got nothing to prove in the division having already been Bristol Citys best young player of the year on loan there the whole of last season. If anything it would have been far more beneficial for him to get a taste of regular Premier League action so he knows what's expected of him in the future to make it at this level. 

It was him or Sam bell for young player of the year. Sam bell now in league one. I don’t think winning that award says much. Earthy wasn’t great for them, very little output really. My city friends are non plussed out him coming back. They seem to think best thing about him returning is that he has a good song. Having watched him a fair bit I don’t see that he is ready for premier league. Definitely happy to be proved wrong though.

£5 - 10 million spent getting in some of Nuno’s usual coaching team would be something I would look at even if we have to pay out their contracts eleewhere. As with Moyes and Alan Irvine, Ive got the strong feeling thats why we have seen a useless version of Nuno.  I am strongly suspecting Sullivan refused to hire them.

Just shows the savvy our Club doesn't have. Macaulay was an asset we'd paid for. We just binned him and immediately hired elsewhere. Nuno's staff get retained at Wolves and available for a fee...

I'd argue you should do this with managers too if you have to pay up their contracts anyway. Stick them in gardening leave and if anyone wants them let them pay compo.

One school of thought is Earthy needs to play week in week out to prove he is over all his injuries and be ready for next season in the Championship. But not been given minutes this season no one knows if he might be up to it already.  Poor squad management is my conclusion.

Admittedly the complete binning of JWP was unexpected, but I really dont see what the fuss is over Wilson. The bloke was always a massive bellend, probably had a total of 3 decent halves of football for us and now suddenly its some sort of tragedy that the workshy cսnt doesn't want to have any other strikers competing with him and he's fucking flounced off. It's fucking pathetic from him and I hope he fucks off asap, the snide fucking no pride cսnt. I hope he breaks his neck on his Leicester debut, live on the telly. I'd enjoy that.

As for Earthy, he's not up to Prem level but he could be good for us next season in the championship so I reckon its a good thing he's getting some games in the league we'll be in. He needs the games to get himself a new contract so it's win win. I suspect he'll just get injured again and then released though which would be a shame.

Off back to Bristol City. States he needs minutes to develop, yet overlooked him a lot of the time once he was back from injury impressing in the U21s. So fucking clueless and a wasted opportunity to really see what he could have done over the festive period. Because we did so well anyway..

Thought the Reporter for once was asking good uncomfortable probing questions with regards the state of the situation of relegation but also effectively embarrassing him by bringing up 2 senior Pros (as well as Earthy) he's shunned out the Squad when we need all the help we can get.

It really is mind boggling and perhaps highlights what chaos and priority's we seem to have in that we can suddenly sign 3 players within days of the window opening when finishing below 17th is starring us down the barrel? 

Yet a couple of years ago and on the cusp of pushing on and getting top 4 and we are desperate for a striker in January that could see that dream realized, so we sit on our hands, make excuses and hope that Antonio will stay fit............

You are absolutely bang on. The window you refer to we actually ended up buying nobody and ended up 7th and lost in semi final of Europa. I said at the time that it proved Sullivan had no intention of reaching CL because had we won Europa (which would have been possible with the signing of two or three attacking players) it would've been achieved. Consequently, any owner making those promises would've spent the money to secure it. 

I am staggered at how we have managed to spend £50m and get two signings over the line within 2 days when we are in the shit. When, as you rightly say, when we are doing well and need to kick on you get a stagnation of activity and the board bring FFP into it. Moyes was just as culpable as he peddled their lies and abetted in their inactivity when he covered for them. 

And without trying to sound like a prophet - I said at the time to my mate back then "Our lack of signings in the Jan window will not only hurt us this season, but hurt us long term."

I stand by what I said years ago - GSB never ever wanted us in the CL as he didn't want to fund it. Moving to the London Stadium was purely about saving money, earning money and vanity. 

 

I might be wrong but that also might have been the window that Moyes was offered Alvarez (Man City and now Ateltico player) and he rejected it as he thought Antonio was better.

That's the one. Most managers would've neem saying to Sullivan "Sign Alvarez and between him and Antonio, I will win us the Europa League". But no, we were doing well, so Sully didn't want to spend and Moyes abetted him in that scandal.

I remember Moyes saying something really crass like "There isn't anyone else here or abroad that can do what Antonio does for the team"

I'm pretty sure that I didn't imagine that.

We shouldn't be throwing pelters at Antonio though. He did the best he could until physically he was unable to sustain the low block, flog him to death because he was the only outlet up front due to Moyes dour, shitty tactics. I didn't blame him for being pissed off at the end of those 2-3 years where the same 13 players played relentlessly like it was 1979 or something. 

 

 

Would never blame Antonio. He was amazing for us. And to be honest he showed the type of character I want from players. He never threw a strop, even when Bilic kept playing him at RB even though he was scoring goals and should have been up top. He just kept on progressing. People laughed at his technique but he kept scoring. Never gave up on himself. Changed his diet and stopped getting injured as well. He has incredible mental strength.

My thing what annoys me most is Moyes saying that about Alvarez in a Stephen Bartlett podcast as if it was an example of great management. He had no shame. This guy went on to win PL/CL and the world cup! I believe that was the sliding doors moment for the club. Get Alvarez or any other striker in as well as Antonio and we get Europe again. Attract better players, build on what we are doing. His dithering just ruined all the progress that was made. Knackered our players etc. I think you can plot our decline to now straight after that decision. I think not having Alan Irvine in just unbalanced what was a good management team. He clearly doesnt trust anyone else.
