Re: Valentin (Taty) Castellanos
Not in a million years.
The problem Gyokeres has is playing in this Arsenal Team where they often fail to put the ball in early wanting to keep the ball recycling around the box before shooting. His style aint really suited to this type of Football. Normally he's class in the box. I'd have him here in a heartbeat.

This geezer is going to come good. He was so close today, got in some really good positions for a goal. And put in a shift, I like him a lot.

The Temu Tevez is just about the best description for him. A back handed compliment.

Re: Valentin (Taty) Castellanos
Yeah, I don't think that's fair. From what i see, we've got a decent Premier League player who grafts, who doesn't have anything exceptional about him but will contribute.
That said, he will be playing second division football next season, and he will be top man in the Championship.

I wonder why players don't want to sign for west ham?So many players were about to sign for us then checked WHO and aborted..
Yep, that's exactly what happened with Shaun Wright-Phillips and Eidur Gudjohnson.

This lad looks decent but we will always be undone by shoddy defensive errors so unless that changes we aren't winning any games.

Re: Valentin (Taty) Castellanos
I do think you have to look at transfers in the context of players like
Gokyerez - 60m with near 1:1 goal ration in Portugal, 1in4 after the 19 games in the best club in the league.
or Florian Wirtz at Liverpool, 2 goals I think, nearly 100m?
It's a hard league. It's always a gamble regarding how easy or how much time it takes for any player to adapt here. You do have to give it time.
The alternative is to buy established prem players but they end up costing double.
What Brighton and Brentford are good at is having patience. Not just selecting good potential but giving it time to work. Look what we've done with Ghullierme.. absolute waste of time. No plan, multiple managers etc.. would have fucked him up completely if he wasnt young enough to resurrect himself somehow.
We are a terribly run club sometimes.
Scarles' progress is giving me hope that at least that part might change in the future. A lot of our previous managers would never have played him again, but I think he's come back better after his mistakes. Thats proper management and coaching.

Not fair to include Wilson in that, dude.

Who's cunting him off? Everyone is having a level headed debate, apart from you, clearly. The goal was against QPR by the way.
Someone has called him a £27mil bargain, from my perspective I just hope he proves to be worth that money, I've not seen anything about him to suggest he'll blow those expectations out of the water to be considered a bargain at that price, have you?

Re: Valentin (Taty) Castellanos
Pablo is being played out of position; isn’t he meant to be a number 9? Not that I know f all about him…..apart from his previous transfer was £250 k

Re: Valentin (Taty) Castellanos
I'm not making a judgement on Pablo yet as I've not seen him in his natural position, but there's a possibility he could get much better. He does look slow, but he's got good physical attributes, he just really needs to get up to the speed of English football. Not writing him off yet.
Castellanos is 27, so is at his absolute peak, and I'm more than happy to say on the early viewings, and from his past, that at £27mil he's anything but a bargain.
I think he'll be a decent player for us, and will lead the promotion chase next year Ithink, but a bargain? Nah.

Re: Valentin (Taty) Castellanos
Decent championship player is the limit of what Ive seen so far but its still very early days. He has given some effort and improved us up top but simply because we had so few options. We needed pace and strength, Pablo has the later, neither he or Pablo have the former. Pablo is young and might have potential to be a decent target man but currently another that is more championship level than PL so far. Point is both might be good signings over the medium or linger term but not what we wanted which was high quality goalscorers for right now. Understandable as that would have cost money we cannot afford.
We are cooked. Im just looking at what we might be able to salvage for next season in the fizxy pop

Re: Valentin (Taty) Castellanos
not sure, but he's probably more of a bargain than Pablo, who's value we somehow think has increased a hundred fold inside a year!
