WHO Anon
Black fonters, guest posters, unregistered spam machines.
From those that were around at the time....why was it removed from WHO? What did it used to offer?
And would such a thing even work in this day and age with the proliferation of Robot-driven spam, 'online standards' and other such issues that mean registration to comment is considered a must on the internet.
What say the sages of modern day WHO?
Is there a place in this day and age for a place on WHO (or anywhere on the Web) where 'anons' can post with impunity, and what should the boundaries/guardrails be...given that Free Speech can be just that, but free speech doesn't mean free of consequences.

Re: WHO Anon
For me the black font days were, now I look back, the best of times on WHO.
It was at once anarchic, humerous and not at all boringly repetitive like many of today’s post sadly demonstrate.
Oh and most black fonters were people with signed in personas.

Re: WHO Anon
You can't ban an Anon, so if the thin skinned mods got all tearful about something being said they couldn't flex their mod muscles to ban them and then masturbate furiously, drunk on the only power they've had in their lives.
Absolute carnage. Good times.

Gank wrote: ↑21 Jan 2026, 17:27 It was so funny at the time, but it wouldn't work now - think of any problem or issue with the site as it is and you'll probably see that this would be made much worse with the anonymous posting.
Even back then, mods could see the IP of all posts including anons, AND there was a swear filter, and it was still carnage. Add VPNs to the mix and there is nothing off the table. You would need 24/7 monitoring because anyone could say anything.
Also "Black font" is racist. ANONYMOUS FONTS OF COLOUR is how we like to be known these days, thank you.
I think we should give it a whirl!

The Match thread site invasions were the nuts, Mumsnet and the Evangelicals were the better ones
Re: WHO Anon
My small village in the arse end of nowhere had a members only online notice board, it would get infrequent but steady snippets of parish news about useful events, card games, quizzes, pub music - and items and services for sale or want of, cats lost, spectacles found, tractor parts for sale, and other "what have you" - very handy indeed.
The people running the site decided they wanted to generate more 'traffic' and the notice board became an anonymous, unregistered free for all for grifters selling various chinese products, vaping supplies, only fans and dodgy nackers who want to sort out your gutters/driveway.
No one bothers to put anything interesting or relevant up anymore and have unsubscribed.
"Be careful what you wish for"

I feel it's day has passed, to do it now would just encourage the same old banal back and forth that you see on here from time to time, back in the day the black fonts were abusive but funny with it, I feel those behind them are long gone from here.

Re: WHO Anon
Past the novelty and fun for five minutes it would be chaos and it would infest every single thread completely driving away what good chat and debate is still here.
Loads of alts, all the arguments on here currently magnified tenfold. Can't see it being a plus for anyone unless they want to just troll the forum.
