Re: West Ham vs Sunderland | PL | 24.1.26 | Predictions and Match Thread
I cannot see where the wild optimism is coming from. We beat a poor Spurs side just. The improved work rate, attitude and commitment were the difference and tye 2 lads running up front does help but our squad means we still have no one to bring on after 60 mins. We need to be at least 2 goals ahead. Sunderland have only lost 1 in their last 6 and get a lot of great goals. Our home form is a disaster and we struggle against teams with pace or those that sit deep and counter. One win last week is not enough to convince that we have improved enough to compensate for the weaknesses we havehad all season and seasons before. Gawd help us if Todibo gets injured.
I hope we get the win as we have to but its just that hope.

Happy with the line up, JWP replacing Guido.

first question to crouch and Carney; is Frank gonna get the sack?

Karen Carney was found guilty by the FA of telling a foreign player to “ fuck off back home “ but she still gets work. Imagine if that had been a male player
. Never would be seen again.

Piss poor but anything is better than when that utter retard southern Liverpool fan akinfenwa was working for them briefly. He sounded like a special needs fan getting his make a wish to go on telly and just talk about Liverpool and say ‘bro’ at every opportunity granted regardless of what the actual topic in hand was.

Off to the game where a win for us is essential but unlikely against a team that’s lost one game of its last six. We have actually score one more league goals than Sunderland but their defence has conceded almost half the amount that ours has so far.
All this banging on about strikers and attacking players and formations etc misses the point about our need to defend better.

We are due a proper win today. None of this 2-1 nervy shit, I’m going 3-1 with them pulling 1 back… it’s about time.

Our rent decreases if we are in the Championship
Sunderland were nailed on to have tailed away last by now so have probably been the most impressive team compared to expectations
No idea what will happen today but we MUST win
No more excuses

Not a Team set up for 442 for me. 4231 or 433 feels the right formations and definitely not a 352/532 formation. Need to keep the likes of Bowen and Summerville closer to the centre of the pitch rather than isolated tucked out wide hugging the touchline away from their box.

I think 442 works for us with our current personnel. Pablo and Taty are hard working team players who press from the front. With Summerville and Bowen playing a little deeper they can carry the ball out rather than wait for the ball to come to them. They're both hard workers too so can track back and do their bit defensively without leaving us with just one man up top completely isolated.

Re: West Ham vs Sunderland | PL | 24.1.26 | Predictions and Match Thread
I'll go with my same 4-4-2 prediction as last week. Oh hang on, that prediction was correct, so lets start again with the winning team.
Areola
Wan Bissaka. Mavropanos. Todibo. Scarles.
Bowen, Soucek, Fernandes, Summerville
Pablo, Taty
I do wonder if its worth to put a formation these days. When defending all but maybe Taty get back and even Taty has been seen to get back so its more like 4-5-1 even 6-3-1 or 6-4. Then when we attack the FBs get up so it's like 3-3-4, 2-4-4. Having said that I always feel in attack we just do not get enough bodies in the box. In the old days when everyone played 4-4-2, I felt the aim was to get a winger putting a cross over with just about the whole team getting in the box to try and get on the end of it. Those were the days. To sum up, Stubbie probably has it closest with 4-2-3-1.
Has to be a win today!

Just been reading that if West Ham go down the taxpayer gets saddled with a 400,000 bill. Any accountability for Sullivan, Brady and the players. Sunderland are a gutsy side if they go one down they dig in hard for each other to get back. I think a draw is most likely.

I'm just hoping 'it comes together' i.e we come out the blocks with some confidence after 2 straight wins and hopefully a good atmosphere, a bit of luck that always helps, and with 'more at stake' can get over the line. We ain't playing prime Barcelona here, so hardly fucking outlandish. But yes, we also know it can all go wrong. Looking forward to it either way and the early KO.
I'm going for a narrow win.
We have scored more goals than these...(I know).
