Nathan's Pies and Eels
I'm wondering if there is anyone on this forum who has the contact details (email or phone number) wiofth the old owners of Nathan's Pies and Eels. I know of a lot on a High Street in my local area in Essex that could potentially be available.
I know from this article some years back (https://www.newhamrecorder.co.uk/news/2 ... pton-park/) that Richard Nathan said: "I will probably move the shop to somewhere in Essex."
I have an idea of where there might be a good place to open an authentic Pie & Mash shop with only a short commute to Stratford afterwards where tonnes of West Ham fans travel from on match day.
Let me know if anyone has the Nathan family's contact details, please email them to me at [email protected].

Re: Nathan's Pies and Eels
My favourite over west ham was Duncan's
I grew up with Kelly's, my favourite was S&R by the marquis of cornwallis.
Then when I moved to the Island it was Maureen's. Marvellous dark green liquor and id go in there after we moved to the Bowl.
It's the only thing I miss about England. I could end up being one of those saddos who gets it shipped over frozen. The closest thing we have here in Ireland is mutton pies, similar sort of pie crust but served with a broth instead of liquor. And that too is dying out now. It's definitely a first cousin of pie and mash.

Love Maureen's, but then I used to go to her pie and mash when it was in the parade of shops on East India Dock Road in Poplar, by Peter Pans (showing my fucking age here).
Think it's what you're accustomed too, as can't stand the slop they serve up in Manzies, or served up in Nathans.
Have a mobile pie and mash van here in Kent, and have to say it's very good.

I'd never tried Nathan's because G Kelly's was always around the corner, and now it's about the only thing good about where the ground Is now.
If they haven't opened somewhere since the move from Upton Park, they won't, so I suggest G Kelly it is for travelling to games, or for those with no taste buds like some of my mates, Maureen's.
